Thinking of looking at a 996

Well I've specialised in looking at Porsches for forty years now. :hand:

Seriously? Well his EBay trader rating though 100% isn't a big scorer, his advert is riddled with spelling mistakes which any spell-checker should have picked up and which for me at least create a doubt, £5k for an engine rebuild seems, er, the lower end of the spectrum.

But hey, I've never dealt with the guy so if the car is what you're looking for go take a proper look. Who did the engine rebuild & when, what's the service history look like, is the car genuine, how's it look inside and out.

Good luck, maybe come back and let us know?

I noticed the spelling too, terrible! But you don't Have to be able to spell to sell cars I suppose.

The engine was rebuilt in his workshop apparently.

Paul.

It says full engine rebuild but no mention of IMS upgrade. I suspect it was just top-end.

However with warranty etc it seems a fair price from a dealer.

Call me old fashioned but I'm always a bit suspicious if there is only a mobile number. If you street view the post code you will find a housing estate.

This car has been up for sale for sometime now as I was going to look at it.

I don't know why but I was just put off by the add and as other have said the rebuild costs, from what I have been reading seams to be a bit low.

Also the seats and general pictures of the interior colour put me off, IIRC I might have mailed him for some more pictures and the drivers side bolster is a little worn.

I wondered why he accepted my cheeky offer!

Wonder what's up with it.

Housing estate + mobile = quality

...........and also a Ronan Keating fan, looking at his feedback

:dont know:

How cheeky was it :?:

Trade value with 82k up is probably under £12k and if he bought it with a knackered engine he probably got it for 7.

If you've bought it .. for the right price ... you might just be getting a bargain. :thumb:

There's an awful lot of dyslexic entrepreneurs out there and many have made millions from buying and selling all sorts of things.

We agreed on 12k. The thing is if I made the effort to go and see it, it would be to buy it....I've sold my car and can't afford to waste the time to travel that far to find out it's a lemon, so I think I'll have to leave it.

There are plenty of people with shaky hands, but to give the best impression and show they could be bothered, they use a ruler.

This is especially so if the shaky "this is just white-goods" lines are around an advert for a premium product.

It's not rocket-science.
