Has anybody experienced problems with the electric motors on the headlight levelling system failing? The off side one on my car has stopped working. I have taken the headlight out and checked everything inside and it looks OK visibily. My HIDs are the large HIDS4U units that mount on the inside of the wing so there is nothing inside that could hamper the movement. I have tried removing the plug from its bracket in the wing and plugging directly in to the headlight unit so I am sure I am getting a good connection. I can clearly hear the motor working on the nearside one but there is no sound coming from the offside one.

Is it worth swapping the motor in case it has failed? Just can't imagine much could go wrong with them as they hardly ever get used. Any other ideas?

The motor is 993 624 209 00 Electric motor headlight levelling system. Does anyone know what they cost?

Hello,
When you removed the headlight assembly, did you check to see if the pins in the plug on the back of the headlight are all "out" at the same level?
My main beam stopped working and it was because one of the pins in the plug on the back of the headlight had pushed in. I managed to pull it out and lock it in to position with a pair of long nose pliers.
Good luck.
Steve.

Thanks Citori, yes I did check that and one of the pins was slightly pushed back as you say. I did the same as you and pulled it forward and it locked in to position. I plugged it in carefully by hand with the headlight unit out of the wing so I could see it was going in properly and still couldn't get it to work.

Worth a try. I would guess that the plug on the other side is wired the same. If you have the headlight wiring out already, you could try swapping over the headlight unit. It won't fit in the wing of course, but you might be able to get it in far enough to test the wiring then you would know for sure if it was the motor. There would not be any need to connect up the hid's just to test. It depends how confident you are...

That is often the problem in itself lack of use of things, try moving the motor and mechanism carefully by hand, that is often all tthings need to get them moving and working again
