Does anyone know of this company;

http://www.thehairpincompany.co.uk/

There are several very interesting Porsches (and other marques) on offer

but I'm :?
(what's new?).

Several, if not all the 3.2SE's are referred to as 930's. I'm going back to my reference books but I thought this was a turbo only designation ?????

They also have a 930LE, sorry 930TurboLE asking £45K! which strikes me as a little strong even for a low mileage car? 3.2SE cab in 20's and the same for a coupe that is shown as sold.

Is it me?

I think this is the place that sold JC's Merc recently..............

There is a lot of waffle on that site.............

And yes 930 is the internal factory code for the turbo

3.2 were known within the factory as the G series (i think), regardless of wether they had a G50 g/box or a 915 g/box.

sitsbackandawaitsbeingcorrect.

:D

I've noticed that lot too- they do have some nice looking stock.

V low miles original Porsches seem to command a lot of money, presumably collectors rather than 'users'. The coupe was a real time-warp example by the look of it, and they did not have it for sale for long.

The Speedster has been there for a while though.

The advert for JC's SL55 merc amused me- it waxed lyrical about how wonderful he said it was, but I remember him saying on TG that it kept going wrong so he sold it!

Fezza Dino for £65K ! Do I regret buying a 911 - I admit there is a small part of me would like to own a Dino more than anything else!

Been down the Fezza route myself, spent most of that time wanting a Porsche, usually whenever I took them for service...

Beautiful looking cars though, no question, just not usable at all.

Hope that makes you feel better!

Made it to the Ace, then to Sevenoaks, then home - 550miles roundtrip in very cold dark conditions - if I'd been in a Dino I'd have been returning on the back of a tow truck.

They're achingly beautiful - but check where they got the inspiration from (oh, and the 904 came out five years before the 246):

I was going to say with you totally on that one Philip but realise it may mean that I am seriously drifting towards the early 911.

Personally think the 904's 6's and 8' just look brilliant. Wish I'd been more interested when I was young (er).

Well thats what I thought. I'm sure Philip will comment but it was my understanding that different model changes were identified by letters up until the 964 which aparently reverts back to a Porsche project number. It would be interesting to hear whether that is right.

Just goes to show (and I'm talking from experience  ) how humbling a little knowledge can be.

Personally think these cars are seriously over-priced but again, it will be interesting to read other peoples comments.

Sort of, the series crossed engine sizes and model year changes - from memory:

1964 thru 1969 - O, A and B series (2.0ltr)
1970 thru 1971 - C and D series (2.2ltr)
1972 thru 1973 - E & F series (2.4ltr)
1974 thru 1977 - G, H, I and J series (2.7ltr)
1976 thru 1989 - 930 for Turbo models and derivatives (934 etc)
1978 thru 1984 - SC
1984 thru 1989 - 3.2 (I'll look these up when home)
1989 thru 1993 - 964
1994 thru 1997 - 993

Various other design projects carried other identifiers - there's a rumour that the '964' was given the number because they couldn't afford to upgrade the 911 properly so it was like going back to 1964 when the original car came out! But this is probably an urban myth

Both the white 3.2 and the white turbo are lovely and the 3.2 is reasonable money, assuming the mechanicals are as good as the rest appears to be. The turbo might well be considered excessive.

Agree wholeheartedly regarding the 904, never seems to get any major recognition (for its looks at least) or mention that it was the visual foreunner of the Dino
