All of a sudden strange water intake on my 993 Targa. Its had to stand outside for a few days in bad rain, opened the luggage compartment and water poured out of the double skin at the front of the bonnet, it must have been full of water from the amount that went into the compartment. Any ideas where it has got in from? I have had a look thinking it must be the window wash system but that seems OK. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks

That's cos its old. You need a 996 or a 997!

Then the only water problems would be in the engine!!!

sounds like a seal may have worn or come unstuck from its mounting

or check how the seal operates when you close and open the bonnet, but as it is at the front low point the answer may be further back (i.e. dripped down?) ?

from what you described I couldn't work out where the water actually was ? was the complete front compartment flooded or just a section ?

which means you will need to seal everything up with plastic sheets and test with a hose to locate.....

I've just checked mine which has stood out in the piss-istent rain all morning - it's absolutely fine so can only assume, as Sundeep says, that it's getting in higher up and running down the frame of the bonnet to the front (I assume that's what you mean by the double skin?). There are holes in the frame but unless you were deliberately sqirting water into them, I don't see how it could get in. Are all your drain holes clear? 'Spose water could have backed up into the holes. The only other thing maybe condensation but by what you describe there's far too much water for that.

Even though mine's stood out all morning, the huge beads of water running across various panels shows a good polish is vital to disperse water as is Rainex on all the glass work - especially the roof! Makes all the other cars in the park look very underpolished as well!
