Hi All, I think I remember someone posting about a smell of petrol when they start the engine. mine lasts about 10 minutes, then fades away. Does anyone know why?

I would think fuel pumping to the plugs and some being thrown out on start up? I know nothing, but every big engined petrol car ive had has smelt quite potent on first start up, should clear pretty quick though....

One possible cause of 996s smelling of petrol, though not just on starting the engine necessarily, is if the fuel filler cap does not seal properly.
This can result from the cap not being turned until it clicks or from the "rubber" seal under the cap being perished and cracked.
