OK, how many of you have reversed very slowly into a space in a car park only to hit one of those metal poles that indicate you have no idea how long far back your car goes? Well, I did and managed to create two very small dents in the bumper which while they could be left are annoying and draw my eye to them everytime I look at any part of the car including the front or interior!

Has anyone used one of those dent removing/re-painting companies who claim to repair small dents without any signs of having being touched - does it work who are the best, should I go to AFN and be robbed or should I leave it be?

Maybe I should save my money and learn to drive again :?

Couldn't one of those dent companies sort it pretty easily?*EDIT* sorry didn't read your post properly.

How come you're selling your M5?

The main reason for passing on the M5 is as follows:

I currently drive about 40,000 miles per year. I have a 150 Golf GTi TD which is ok as an everyday run around and will cost about £2500 to run in diesel (based on 25,000 miles PA). My 996 will cost about £2500 also in fuel (based on 15,000 miles PA)

However...........

The M5 will cost about £13,000 per year to run in fuel alone if I use it as my daily car :D
(based on a heavy right foot and about 12mpg).

I had a Cayenne S for a week late last year and I covered 400 miles and it cost me £200 in fuel - phew! That made me think hang on a minute....

Need I say any more? Whilst work is great and I might change my mind, I think you have to be nuts or rich beyond normal wealth to spend that much on fuel.

And I hope that if I have one of the first M5's in the UK I might make a couple of quid on it by selling straight away?

But I intend to move to Spain at some stage, so my decision may change!

Have you heard about the Spanish councils taking the foreigners land/houses and giving it to Spaniards? You know you want to stay in Britain

What's the list of the new M5?

Answer 1:

I have a Spanish lawyer friend working in Spain who specialises in this very subject and I can assure everyone that land is not just "taken" from you. Without boring the pants off everyone, if you are stupid and ignore letters etc. you will loose your land, if you take advise you will not - bear in mind that this is affecting certain regions more than others.

Answer two:

I have been told to expect a starting price of around £60k. That figure pretty much gives you the lot (although the UK spec is to be agreed yet). The extra's I will have are head up display, Active Steering etc. and I would expect to pay around £65k.

Mogs,

I hear ya! THe missus and I have just agreed to apply for residency in Oz. I'm going to jack in the 9 to 5, retrain to be a commercial helicopter pilot, buy a chopper and open a tour company operating out of the Gold Coast area.

Great all year weather, a chilled lifestyle and NO Mr Blair.

Please excuse any typos, I'm using a PDA to type this

Back to the dent...

If its on a plastic pu, the dent removal guys really only are good on metal, so your pu will need to be painted.

The scratch away companies operate outside and use a different type of paint, thats not so durable, so for a proper job you need a good bodyshop.

Sometime.......you can heat the pu and it regains its original shape....but only sometimes.

I hope that I won't be making a mistake but Chips Away have already repaired one of my sales guys BMW's with success - so I am going to give it a try.

Apparently the fact that it's a bmuper is no problem and matching the colour should be either. You get a two year warranty and if it goes wrong - ah well. The worst case is that I'll have to have the bumper fixed/re-sprayed by a bodyshop at a later date.

Mogsy

I used Chips Away to remove a scratch on my Black GT3 they were very good.

As for running from the UK, I agree, my big plan is to spend 7 months a year in Oz, and 5 months of the year in the UK running the track day company. Which equals 12 months of sunshine every year.

Any equation that contains 5 months a year in the UK can't add up to 12 months of sunshine can it?!?

Try Dubai, we have a brand new track opening this week (at last!) they might want someone to start doing track days.

Sorry Sean, that equals 7 months of sunshine, 1 mild wednesday in july, and 4 months and 30 days of crap weather!!
