Trying to avoid using the OPC in Edinburgh to look after my 993. Does anyone have any experience of George Morrison in Glasgow or Brian Miller in Edinburgh ? Alternatively - anyone have a recommendation for a good independant in Newcastle / North England ?

Cheers.

Motortune in Shotts is the place to go and ask for Peter McAnna, the owner. Knows all about our cars, well Porsches and is a nice guy into the bargain.

Recently refered another person to him who had bought a 964 and this is what he posted on another forum

William, Just back from a trip to Shotts, to meet Peter at Motortune. I was very impressed, I got a good welcome, shown round, and he was happy to talk over some stuff on the car with me. I have therefore booked it in about 2 weeks hence to have the brakes overhauled, the dizzy belt canged, a few other bits, and a thorough inspection of the whole car. The place reminded me a bit of a smaller Scottish version of Hartech, not flashy, but they seem to know what they are talking about. A good find. Thanks, glad you alerted me to them. JH

My 993TT is booked in for a service at Brian Miller. He was recommended to me by the mechanic at the Classis Car Club in Edinburgh - he has worked on their Porsche in the past, and has a good reputation.

He sounded OK on the phone, and with a 2 and a half week wait to get booked in, he seems to be popular at least.

I had initially tried the OPC, but after waiting for ages for them to answer the phone, and then getting redirected to a voice mail for the service department, I decided I'd had enough.

Reason I did not mention Brian Miller was that I asked him to carry out a PPI and after the car being given a clean bill of health ended up having to pay out over £1500 on necessary repairs.

So no confidence on that front.

Was it obvious stuff that was missed, or something more serious internal that might have been hard to spot?

The post I made seems to have not made it!

New exhaust, when challanged was told it was a small stone; engine mount collapsed; seal leaking badly; new wishbone bushes, the list was quite long after 9M got out the fine toothcomb.

Dont deal with porsche edinburgh. They will lie cheat and do any thing rather than face up to their responibilities as a dealer when they have sold you a faulty car.

Trust me their customer service is non existent they seem to think that having six faults in six months is normal in a brand new Cayenne.

Dont buy from them gop independent.

have used George Morrison for more than 10 years. He lives and breathes porsche of all ages and eras. Workmanship always excellent, prices fair. Very well respected in the west of scotland. Does like to natter and always has time to explain any problem thoroughly.

All in all top bloke.
