Getting very strong rumours that the 997 is coming out 3rd quarter of 2003, although as a porsche fan im looking forward to seeing it and the power figures etc, as a person who takes delivery of his own 996 4s in the first quater of 2003 my wallet has started twitching, any ideas???

Are you worried you won't have the nicest car on the block or that your new car will suddenly devalue? Regarding the first point, imagine how long the waiting list will be, and here in the UK we are bound to be last to get it. Regarding the second point, I doubt it will much affect the value of your car for the same reason.

Don't worry and just enjoy your new machine. It is just as good as it was when you put your money down.

Cheers, James

Problem solved I am gonna put a deposit down for a 997 get the 4s and then see what all the fuss is about when its released, if its far greater than the 4s i'll jump ship otherwise just sell the 997 on, hopefully with a little premium!

Sounds like a good plan. I can't imagine what it must be like having to wait until March though!

Sarbs, at this rate you'll have your own Merc/Porsche dealership!!! Do you have any web links you can share with us re the 997?

Easy there nathan. Not gonna keep the mercs unless things take a very big change for the better, should be able to make a little on them though. The 997 is now supposed to hit the uk for june 04 which has eased my worries considerably, I should be able to keep the 4s until january of 04 before I have to make a decsion to sell or not before any significant depreciation kicks in. Waiting till March is killing me, I sold my 111s 2 weeks ago and now use my 87 quattro turbo everyday, which I love, although all my work mates refer to it as a capri - ignorant fools!

Try the links below for info on the 997, it has the fat arches of the 4s and the headlight's of a 993, great combination!!!

There's been a fair bit on the flat6 forum about two new cabrio's coming out but i'd just dismissed it all as crazy american rantings, will be interesting to see a roofless widebody although the weight penalty trying to stiffen the chassis will add a fair few pounds to the already arse heavy 4s!

With regard to the 997 coming out in 2005.......Excellent,!

Crikey, you must have read a lot of posts to read all the way back to 2002!

Or is there not enough (too much?) disharmony in 2010?

nostalgia is a seductive liar.
