I have had a Morpheus Geodesy

for a couple of years now. It is a fantastic system. They now have a touch screen version.

I had a road angel for a couple of weeks, but took it back for a refund. This was for two reason. Firstly I felt that in order to have it in the car and sued daily it needed to be powered from somewhere other than the cig lighter - mainly for cosmetic reasons. This also applied to mounting as the mounting kit supplied seemed not to hold the device in place and it kept sliding of the dash.

2 Reason was that the coverage of sites seem to be only about 90%. Some of the SPEC camera in nottingham where not in the database.

Reason 1 I feel is easy to solve and had I not been in the process of changing my car I would have got some power to the back of the dash etc.

Point 2 can be solved by manual updates to the database, or emailing Road angel to advise them of missing sites. I might be being a little harsh about the 90% as the SPEC sites where the only ones that where missing

The only other issues is the black spot warning is a bit anouying as you are advised to regular of known acccident sites. This can be configured though

In conclusion I would give the device a 7/10, maybe tempted to reinvest if I could resolve point one and the price came down a little.

how are you going to wire in the power sarbs - found it a bit of mess with wires running from the cig lighter etc and I would imagine you have additional leads with the laser.

Yeah can see this being one of my ill conceived plans had the bel 980 in the elise and it was fine, the elise wasn't very plush inside so the odd wire didnt make much difference, will possibly use the sucker mounting thingy's (so technical) on the windscreen and if it gets on my nervers within 28days i'll be talking refunds!

mine kept flying of the dash - hence it went back. Plus I usually need the cig lighter for my phone charger.

If you have the CD autochanger fitted in your C4S then the CD storage in the centre console is pretty redundant. You could trash this and replace it with the standard storage bin (fitted when PCM is not specified). You could then wire the Road Angel though a small hole made in the rear of the storage bin. The Road Angel can then be secured inside the front of the bin using velcro which should allow it to be seen when in use and will allow easy removal for downloading updates. No wires visible etc.

At least this is what I am thinking of doing when I get mine in July. I am considering the Snooper Neo SR6 also as this includes radar and laser detection

From what I've been told a detector of sorts is pretty well mandatory in the UK these days.

Excellent thinking Robut
, Not aware of the snooper neo's work, but the review of the road angel in this months evo magazine was very good. I like the idea of wiring the road angel through a yet to be purchased storage bin, the cost would will be nominal, and as I have no intention of harming the leather dash with holes etc you may have come up with the perfect solution!!!

Hi Johnboy,

How do you configure the Road Angel to ignore black spots?

Sarbs the only problem with Robut advice is that you will have to buy the optional external antena as if the Road angel need to have line of sight of the sky to lock on to the satelites - which = more cables.

Would be very grateful if you could offer some input into my fan noise question I posted by the way.

I never got round to trying to stop the black spot business but I think you have to do by individual site.

as i'm about to purchase a detector of some sort - i'd welcome an update from the various contributors to this topic with their current recommendations.

Is road angel the best one to buy at the moment ?? Or not ??
