Hi,

Does anyone have a list of recalls (if any) for 993 turbos or how I can go about finding out if there are any outstanding on a car. In the last GT Purely Porsche writeup, one of the owners mentioned about recalls and that made me curious.

I spoke to my local OPC who couldn't help - give him the chassis number but he since the car was not supplied or serviced with them, he had no info. He also said he was not aware of any recalls on 993s, turbo or otherwise.

But having done a few web searches, there does seem to be mention of recalls relating to wiring looms. Anyone aware of this or any other and the best way to confirm if any recalls have been taken care of.

For info, it's a 96, RHD UK car.

Cheers,

Glenn

Glenn

that's quite a poor showing by your OPC and they should know by chassis number which cars are effected by any recall.....

worth dropping Porsche GB a line asking for all the recall info on your specific model or they may put you in though with a more helpful OPC..

otherwsie there are web bullentins out there... some have been posted previously, so worth doing a search otherwsie I'll see what I have

regards

Cheers Sundeep,

My local OPC told me all the dealers had separate systems and so couldn't access any info since the car didn't come through them. So much for the internet age - OPCs aren't even linked together!

I had planned next to call the OPCs where the car had been previously serviced - hopefully might have more success there. If no joy there, I'll take your advice and get onto Porsche GB.

I'll continue the web trawl in the meantime...

Hi Glenn

Your OPC is being an unhelpful plank

My opc was able to confirm that I needed a wiring replacement on my 1995 993. Not only did they not supply the car, but it was a German import and the recall was still outstanding, which they are easily able to tell from the VIN number. The lady at Tonbridge threw into her 'pooter' and it took a nanosecond to confirm. Other recalls I had confirmed as already done.

Thanks guys,

Maybe I caught the guy at a bad time or perhaps the OPC network cable just wasn't long enough to stretch across the Irish sea :)

In either case, I'll try OPC Exeter/Carrs as they serviced the car for the majority of it's life. Fingers crossed.
