Evening All

So my spoiler warning light came on today and on inspection the spoiler will no longer rise either at the 50MPH or with the button in the centre console. The motor is still working fine, audible on pressing said button. Trying to work out if I need to replace the whole assembly or if it might just be a case of replacing the gears/bearing? Anyone had this happen?

Hi, Yes I had same problem a few years back, followed the attched DIY and all was good. The bearing had collapsed and the drive was not engaging. A few pics attached too of my repair.

ATB :)

HI Nick, The bearing only costs a couple of quid. I did mine a couple of years ago and it is still working just fine. The gearbox case was glued with slow cure epoxy glue as recomended and all turned out just fine. Just my two pence worth.

ATB :)

I also repaired mine using Araldite but it was not a long term fix. It would last for a few weeks but eventually would break apart. I purchased a new transmission cable in the end and it has been perfect ever since. It is reasonably expensive but an easy fix.

I'm going to guy the Classic Retrofit kit and will report back

I'm sold on the idea of the clip on and off cover to allow bearing changes in the future as mine has clearly been spilt and glued (badly) in the past

It also looks like a nice 2 hour job away from the family over xmas
