Rear parking sensor pushed in a bit…any ideas?

Hi all.

When washing the car the other day I got a bit over excited and accidentally pushed in one of the centre rear parking sensors a bit. It works ok but looks rubbish. Any ideas to get it level again? I’ve tried various things like sticking a suction cup and getting a thin pick down the side on but can’t get any real purchase on it and don’t want do any damage to it if possible.

Cheers.

Had a similar thing on mine. Left one above the number plate had pushed in very slightly at an angle.
Took the rear light out and managed to get my hand down just enough to push it back out. No satisfying click though so not sure how secure it is.

Cheers mate. I’ll try that.
Easy job to get the light out? Assume there are some YouTube videos on it?

Yes very easy. They have to be removed for some service work along with rear bumper.
Raise the spoiler, and carefully pry up the plastic cover that sits above the light, then it’s just two torx screws. Try not to let the nut underneath spin otherwise you lose the lights height adjustment. Will become clear once the lights out.
Light unit then just pulls out.

There are definitely YouTube vids 👍

Thanks mate. Yep, had a go yesterday and I got the light off easily enough, and after a bit of faff got my hand into the void behind the bumper. Managed to push the sensor back a bit. It’s not perfect but it’s better and it’ll do til service time when they get the bumper off and I cann get them to seat it properly.
Thanks for the tip! 👌

I've just taken my bumper off, to work on the 997.2 heatshields, and I had the same issue with the rear sensor so thought I'd investigate. My mechanic suggested it would likely be that the sensor had simply popped out. When I investigated the clip, that holds the sensor, on the back of the bumper has a flat surface which conforms to the shape of the bumper and this had become partially detached. I glued it back on it's rectified it. In the snaps below you can see the shadow created, red arrow, and once glued the overspill of the glue.

Interesting find and thank you for the info. If its the same clip feature on the 991, it'll give us a head start on rectifying.

Your sensor looks to be more in on one side which makes me think it’s become detached as opposed to become unclipped as the clips are top and bottom not left and right.
Only a guess, good luck
