Just had an Audi R8 experience which I really enjoyed but I would not swap it for my gen 2 C2S even though it is a stunning car

I have only had my 911 a few months and was a bit concerned that I would enjoy the R8 more especially as I was on a track being encouraged by the instructor to really push it hard.
I now know for certain I made the right choice, even though the track was wet and I was leaving the Ferrari's due to the incredible traction that the R8 has it is still not as rewarding to drive as the 911

My previous car was an Audi TTRS but I had forgotten how over servoed the Audi brakes are and it took me a lap and a half to get used to them but made me appreciate how good my 911 brakes are.

Anyway it wont fit in my garage or most car parking spaces because its tooooooo wide !

R8 Vs 911S

Am extremely lucky to have both a 997 4S Gen 2 PDK and a R8 V8 manual in the garage. :D

In terms of comparisons, there's very little in it, although the dynamic qualities and the extra flexibility of 4 seats in the 911 give it the edge. In my opinion from an objective perspective :-

Engine...
911 - 9/10
R8 - 9/10

Gearbox ...
911 - 10/10
R8 - 9/10

Brakes ...
911 - 9.5/10
R8 - 9/10

Suspension :
911 - 9/10
R8 - 8/10

Steering feel/accuracy ....
911 - 9.5/10
R8 - 8.5/10

Fuel economy ....
911 - 7/10 (up to 50% better than R8 in like-for-like conditions)
R8 - 5/10

Smile factor ...
911 - 9.5/10
R8 - 9.5/10

Dealer experience ...
911 - 10/10
R8 - 6/10

So if I had to have only one car, would be a 911 every time. 8)

Can't get a fairer response than from someone with both!

Although not driven an R8, I can see why the 911 will always win this debate.

+ it will always be an Audi........

Surely the R8's direct comparison would be the new 911 Turbo, not the 4S?

Not even close!

A V10 maybe (Never driven one) But the V8 is closer to the 4S & won't even look at a turbo!

I drove the V8 and it had the R tronic box rather than the new S Tronic which I believe is better.

Me, being old school, prefer the manual box of my 911.......might not be as quick but you definitely feel more involved with a stick

Have had a passenger ride in a Lambo with the V10 engine, mighty impressive.
