PPI advice sought

Morning

I am due to view a 997 on Monday. It had in October 2023 a full service and detailed vehicle health check by a reputable local Porsche indie, marking all aspects of the car (suspension/body/engine bay/aircon/fluids/interior etc) and identifying any work needed. Vast majority of comments were “Good”, tyres all excellent, brakes 50-70% discs and pads.

Engine has had full documented Harlech rebuild and IMS done so no bore scope needed.

Do I really need a PPI? If so, any suggestion for best option in Richmond/Surrey area?

Many thanks

@langers1970 if you find anything in around Richmond Twickenham and need a 2nd set of eyes let me know as I’m local to the area

Thanks very much, that’s super kind of you.

I’ve now contacted the above specialists - thanks again for the recommendation.

I am very excited about this car as it is a potential dream come true for me. Fingers crossed it isn’t a let down. It has a few stone chips and bit of bolster rub, and has plastic dash, but I can live with all of that as it ticks all the important boxes - on paper at least.

I’ll let you know how Monday goes. I am counting down the hours already!

There are some signs of wear. Does this look like a generally tatty car or just normal wear and tear?

Tatty seat and unavoidable stone chips

What’s the engine history like ?

Engine is the main reason I’m interested, full Hartech rebuild in 2015, 20K miles since. Serviced annually by Hartech then Cridfords service + plugs in Oct 23.

The car is almost 20 years old - wear looks consistent with most Porsches of that age unfortunately. Budget rectifying work and enjoy it in the meantime knowing if you hear a rock but your front then it's no issue!

Yes great points Jay.

None of the above specialists can travel to do a PPI. Any suggestions for a mobile service? My indie does, but he would have a 3 hour round trip so not really viable. Thanks

Nick Giles is your man…issue with these mobile ones are they don’t usually check the bores. Can the seller help facilitate an inspection at their local specialist, get the car up on a ramp etc?
