Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum as I've never owned a Porsche before. I'm looking at a 997 for sale in North Yorkshire.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201305307027075/

I know this car was metioned on here last week, so I'm interested to hear anyones options on it.

My main question is about an inspection, I contacted Porsche inspections .com , but they won't travel that far north. Does anyone know a good inspection company to use that covers this area, as I live in Kent I'd like to have it checked before I make the trip to look at the car in the flesh.

Thanks,
CJ

You could try OPC (Official Porsche Centre) for a full 111-Point Health Check inspection for a detailed breakdown of the car. Work out something with the seller to agree to pay to rectify the faults - if any - with regards to the final price.

Other specialists are RSJ, PSR, 911 Virgin etc. all very thorough.

As for the car itself, it looks ok from the advert (subject to viewing). Good spec, colour, Full History etc. Take your time with the finding the right car, no need to rush buy and there are some very good examples out there.

I used Peter Morgan, superb. The inspection was in Liverpool. :thumb:

Hi Guy,

Wow, thanks for the quick responce. I will look into both of those.

The seller has sent me some service history info which is good.

I've used 'Dekra' in the past for other cars, maybe worth a try. :thumb:

Just found there site,

Thanks a lot, I'll probably go with them.

As provisionally agreed a sale this morning.

Just looking at the service history, the car appears to be due a major service (and probably brake fluid change?). The owner certainly hasn't skimped on the servicing though.

May be worth a bit of haggling?

Cheers Ron,

The seller has moved a little on the ad price, and I just called the garage that has serviced the car since '07 and the boss knew the car of the top of his head & said something similar. Whatever they told the owner is needed, he never quibbles and always has the work done. As he knew the car he offered to do an inspection for £100 if I wanted it.

May just go for it.

Hi AS

Thanks for the advice, I've actually been looking for about a year on and off, but I had a very specific model, colour, spec list, mileage, history that I wanted & apart from the mileage being just over 40k (my limit). This ones ticks all the boxes. Even though I'm traveling a long if the cars not right I will still walk away.
Thanks again, hopefully I'll be on here a bit more in the future.

Good luck with your search - mine still puts a grin on my face every time I drive it a year into ownership

It's worth making sure you get the right one for you

Thanks Ron,

Looking for the 'right one' is probably why I've looking so long. Looked at a few 996's and some C2(non-S)'s but deep down I knew every time I saw a black c2s I'd be jealous.

Good luck with your search and I agree black C2S looks great!

But sadly in this game there's always someone to be jealous of - for me it's when I see a turbo...
