Porsches In The Park Show - Bicester - Sunday 19 August

Just in case anyone's interested in going along and displaying at the annual Porsches In The Park Show which is taking place at the historic Garth Park, Bicester, Oxfordshire, this Sunday (August 19th). It's all in a good cause with the aim of raising money for adults with learning difficulties.

The event takes place in 9 acres of parkland and gardens on the outskirts of Bicester so there's plenty of space to park. Admission is only £5 per car (suggested donation) which includes an entry into the raffle for a selection of detailing products supplied by www.pyramidcarcare.co.uk.

Gates open at 10:00. The day's programme starts at 11:00 hrs and, amongst other things, features:

- Detailing workshops and demonstrations
- Minor mobile repair workshops and demonstrations
- Suppliers' exhibits
- Live music all day
- New play area and café
- Barbeque
- The Big Prize Raffle*
- Tombola plus other stalls
- Picnic areas
- Access to the historic Park grounds and amenities

* This year, The Big Prize Raffle (only £10 per entry) prizes are:
1) Porsche Experience for two people with lunch at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone;
2) Land Rover Experience at Silverstone; and
3) Other worthwhile prizes including some from Williams F1.

Last year over 60 Porsches of all types turned up. It's always a good excuse to get the Porsche out and go for a drive on a Sunday morning just for the hell of it, but this is an opportunity to get together with fellow Porsche owners, and take your partner, child, dog, cat or pet hamster along (although not necessarily all at the same time) for a day out whilst supporting a good cause.

Hope you can make it.

as a Club member who attended this event last year there were at best 40-45 Porsches in attendance.

Even your write up in Porsche Post overstated this as 60.

Be honest, 60 is a stretch but 120 is an untruthful exaggeration even if it is for a good cause!
Welcome both :welcome:

Norm, who cares :dont know: odd first post but each to their own

Think there is a thread already running for this too, I hope I can make it :thumb:
Apologies for any confusion. Hands up. In my rush to drum up some interest amongst the wider Porsche community, I quoted the stats that were logged for all visitors cars that came through the gate during the entire day from 08:00 to 16:30. The 120 will have included other marques who will have parked in the principal car park at the rear. As we don't actually sell tickets but ask visitors to make a donation on entry we don't have the benefit of ticket receipt data.

However, looking in more detail at our notes and photographs taken by us and others on the day, all the Porsches were parked on the three lawns in front of the house and that there were 63 Porsches documented as having attended the event during the entire day.

This is not the same as 60 Porsches being on display at any one time of course and you are quite right that at any one time probably around 40 - 45 Porsches were parked on the lawns in front of the house.

As with many events like this one, some visitors arrived early and didn't stay long, others stayed for a couple of hours, whilst some came very late, a couple just before the event was closing. These were all included so the total number of Porsches attending the event and reported in Porsche Post was factually correct.

Thanks for pointing this out though. We'll try to ensure the unpaid volunteers who help out at the Garth take better notes in future. Hope to see you there. It's all in a good cause.
Just counted 51 a good mix. Inc plenty of air cooled.
Excellent to hear that it went well.

Of course ............ :useless:

ps. A belated :welcome: to Barty' and Norm'
Look on the bright side, 45 is a lot better than 0!

Hope the event went well

Looks like it was a great event. Would have gone but clashed with the WEC at Silverstone. Cant go to them all !

Hope you raised plenty for the good causes
Just to say a big thanks to everyone who navigated their way around the roadworks in Bicester and supported the Porsches in the Park charity event yesterday. In all 55 Porsches turned up, 56 if you count the Boxster owner that turned up at the end just as we were locking the gates.

Thanks too for your amazing generosity. You'll be pleased to know that by the end of the day £1200 had been raised for Adults with Learning Disabilities which will help fund their activities and valuable work.

We were very grateful too for the event sponsors who donated prizes. Simon Morgan won the set of detailing products from Pyramid Car Care for the Entry Raffle. Prize winners for The Big Raffle were:
- Ian Duffy - Porsche Driving Experience at Silverstone
- Brian Ahern - Land Rover Experience
- Tim Hill - British Touring Cars Championships (Silverstone round) tickets
- R. O'Brien - Specsavers £125 voucher

Hope to see you there next year.
Many thanks for organising, it was a great meet.
