Porsche Assistance

Has anyone on here who bought a brand new 991 ever received any documentation on the Porsche Assistance Service? All I have is the telephone numbers on the back of the tax disc holder and I've had my car since January. I managed to download a pdf from the web site but just curious to know if Porsche GB actually send out a booklet to the owner.

I seem to recall having a credit card style membership card that either went in the wallet or in the slot underneath the tax disc - that was on a 997 mind. It wouldn't be amis to call Porsche assist and check your vehicle is registered as I recall a forum member previously breaking down in Europe on a weekend, called Porsche Assistance and his car hadn't been registered with them despite him having paid for the subs.

This seems to be a good advise. :thumb: Normally the registration happens automatically. But who knows...?

My 991 is registered and I've been on to Porsche GB about this and on each occasion they say that they will be arranging for the "pack" to be sent but nothing has arrived.

Was there a private / personalised plate on the car? First time I tried to use PA they couldn't find me as my car was registered with them under the car's original registration, not the one I had put on the car (my own plate).

I think I've only got the membership card too (in the service book pack), but that's all, don't remember ever seeing a booklet.

I don't even have a membership card.
The car has a private plate but it was registered new with that number in my name as first owner from day one.

I have obtained a pdf off the web site but the publication date is 2005.

Porsche GB say that I should have received a membership pack containing a descriptive booklet of all the benefits and a membership card.

It's beginning to look like there is no membership booklet supplied with the 991 but it would be rather useful to know just what you are entitled to in the event of a breakdown especially when on mainland Europe.

I will pursue PGB again if nothing happens in the next week as it will have been 3 weeks since my last call.

I didn't get anything until after my first year of ownership whereupon I received a card and booklet through the post - I believe (at the time) that all new cars automatically received 12 months cover so they only need to issue cards after the gratis period ends...

Porsche assist is actually sub contracted out to RAC!?!?

You get an RAC wo/man out who's supposedly a Porsche specialist - not based on my experience!

AH9999 - try and get the level of cover that PA offers from the RAC and it will be a lot more expensive. PA is great value for money. If you think about it the idea of a fleet of Porsche specialists across Europe - just waiting on standby to come and help you is a little unrealistic.

When I bought from OPC I got a service description white booklet which fits into the leather document folder, after that I've only ever had the warranty paperwork which detailed the level of cover.

The systems that the RAC use to log who has cover and who doesn't seem to be dreadful, they have had two of my cars on their system, and my name, my reg, car, and previous owners are all in there, and it is a lottery who they think has which car, and what is covered. They got it wrong every time so far (three times), but I have still been recovered every time.

Definitely worth giving them a call and pretending to have broken down and testing them out.

i didnt get any info either --bought a late 2012 (second hand with 500 on clock) in all excitement i forgot tons of questions

i rang dealership and they said numbers on the back of tax disc
ive stillkept up my AA membership just in case

I don't think so - I believe mine came with 3 years of cover...

All new Porsche cars come with 3 years warranty and Porsche Assistance however unlike BMW and Audi they don't seem to come with any description of what you get if things go wrong and you need to call out Porsche Assistance. At least that's my experience
