Hi there, I'm looking to buy my first Porsche but i am having a bit of trouble insuring it as i'm only 22! I have looked at a 1992 944 3.0l but the only quote i could get was £3700! does anyone know if there is a cheaper porsche on Insurance or any owners clubs which may offer cheaper Insurance deals?

I'll give them a go, do you know if i might be better off maybe getting an older 911 that would be classed as a classic so therefore hopefully cheaper?

I think your age is always going to make it tough. Do you have any NCB?

My first Porsche was the 911 SC and I was 24. I used Performance Marque who used NU. (was not cheap.... )

My 993 was through Norwich Union last year and I was 29. Now I'm with the Privilege (as of Saturday)

Over the last 13 years of driving all types of cars from RangeRovers to Porsches and everything in between I have found the Insurance companies change year after year and I get shocked aswell as pleasantly surprised. I try everything to see if it will help bring down premiums for example I put my girlfriend on this time and it reduced by £100's and they did not ask if she lived with me..... On the other hand other companies told me it would make no difference and would increase the premium..... some said does she live with you ......

One has just spend time on all the sites and on the phone..... BORING but it saves you 100's if not 1000's !!!

Search this forum and you will see lots of recommendations...

Good luck

are you looking for fully comp or just TP, F & T?

I ask because fully comp on an older 944 doesnt really make sense.

Also try a limited mileage policy.

When does a car qualify for Classic car Insurance? - quite a few 944's are over 20 years old now, so maybe thats an option?

Why not look for a 924s - same engine etc, but maybe the Insurance is cheaper?

Lots of companies will insure as a classic at 10 years so no problem with any 944's. My old S2 was insured through Carole Nash aas a classic. Trouble is I dont think they normally allow drivers under 25.......

I'm 28 and drive a '78 SC, i pay £700 fully comp through Lancaster on a classic policy with limited mileage of 10,000. I was getting quotes of up to £1400 and a lot of companies wouldn't even quote. Obviously i had to have the usual cat 1 alarm fitted.

I'll just have to keep trying, no-where wants me! Being a shagging machine definitly has it's dissadvantages! Martyn 1's idea sounds good, always up for a bit of MILF action!
