Plug and play head unit replacement - problem installing

So I bought a Blaupunkt 420BT thinking it was a plug and play replacement for the CDR23 I have (non MOST). When I install with the existing loom I get the word 'telephone' flashing and no functionality on the 420BT. Blaupunkt say that pin A2 has to be connected but the OEM ISO has 'reverse' in this position (blue/grey wire).

If not connected it is likely to ground, the wire is disconnected when permanent "phone" appears in the display.

Is this standard for all aftermarket units, what have others done?

Thanks.

They should be plug and play, with a little modificationif you have BOSE or the upgraded speaker package (just need to run a wake up signal from the new head unit to the amp)..
I have a wiring diagram if you want it, but I would say the headunit is faulty? Have you tried it in a different car?

Nothing else to try it in which is compatable.

TEL/MUTE is A3 on the Porsche "ISO" plug.

It is ISO, Jim, but not as we know it......

I only have the 400BT connections, but I think they will be the same for the 420BT

A3 on my plug has no wire in it, it's a blank???

Well I guess it would be blank if you don't have a telephone module.

I have a 400BT in another car, which hasn't got the TEL/Mute connected. All I have fitted are the power and speaker connections.

Have you fitted an ignition switched feed? There isn't normally one fitted on a 2003-on 996, and you will need one for the Toronto.

Also, you should disconnect the grey/pink speed wire from A1.

Ignition switch feed is good, it must be the fact that A2 is going to a 'reverse' wire. I don't know what that is so don't want to tamper/ remove. A3 is blank as you rightly pointed out as there is no phone in the GT3. So kind of perplexed as to what to connect A2 to in order to stop the phone message.

Taking it to an audio installer saturday morning but thanks anyway.

I can't understand why it needs anything connected to A2. Mine certainly hasn't. I hope they can sort it out, and let us know the outcome.

If you still have the reverse signal connected to A2, I would just disconect it.

IIRC you keep the Yellow Rear Plug unconnected ?
