I know Sunny and Ade recommend them, but i feel like Grantham is at the end of the world, and 5 miles further on..

I want to have the car done asap, but i dont't want that join on the bonnet like you have on yours, would that be the same with everyone that does this 3M stuff ?

The is another company in Herts somewhere (Ventureshield ?), has anybody else tried them ??

Cheers

G.

There was a thread a while ago that did a kit that covered the whole bonnet - so no line.

When we had the film done, 3M were only producing the film in a max width of 48" across. I think the top of the 996 bonnet is 52" across. Unless 3M have released a wider film, I think you may be stuck with the join line.

But keep in mind that the join line is harder to see on flat and darker colours. Mine is both metallic and very light... it is much easier to see the line on mine than on speed yellow (or orange).

G, it's really no pain bringing it up to Grantham - they've got an XBox, fridge, and microwave to keep you fuelled and busy while you wait!

G

it could be worth checking with Paintsheild what they have for the 997 and if they have full bonnett kits now....

if not it is Armourfend up in Herts, just them on the old 993, again a solid job....

regards

how does it look when you wax the car, doesn't it spoil the look?

will be getter the keying done on my car soon, front end and side and am contemplating the plastic for the front

I was going to ask about the finish/wax as well.

I saw SD's car, and the finish is a lot smoother than my C2 done by Armourfend. Mine wasn't shiny like the paint surface, more of an orange peel effect, slightly dull.

If they can get it to be as shiny and smooth as the paintwork then I might just consider having my next car done as well.

I guess it's just as much as a plastic surface as paint lacquer, so wax goes on jsut the same although it may not last as long and it won't polish as well? where's G?

I have seen Paintshield's work and its good workmanship compared to others I've seen. With regards to getting to look its best, I would get paint correction done first, then apply the film. Even if the car is new, virtually all could do with the paint correction. I'd get it flawless, I mean get every single blemish out and spend some time getting it perfect. After which apply the film and then Zymol the film as normal afterwards. The zymol will help with the protection of the film.
