Hi

I hit the rev limiter in third yesterday it was only momentarily but the engine started to misfire, as soon as I changed gear the misfire stopped. The engine seems fine now. Shouldn't have caused any damage, should it?

Cheers

Percy

The missfiring is the rev limiter working to limit the revs.

Perfectly normal and provided you only do it infrequently no damage either!

I frequently found myself hitting the limiter on my 993, often through over enthusiast driving!

Does anyone know where the limiter is set on a 993 Turbo. I'm sure I got up to 7500 on the way back from Brands on Sunday (!) but maybe not......

I douby you hit 7500 in a 993 Turbo. Most turbo cars don;t rev very high. I beleive the 996TT redlines at 5600. Where as my GT3RS red lines at 8250....Now that is an awesome noise.

Isn't the 996 TT somewhere in the low 6000s?

The standard 996 revs to about ~7200 which isn't bad

Just checked the handbook - should have done that first I guess. It says; Max rpm 993 Carrera 6700 and Turbo 6720. My eyesight is obviously deceiving me :?
