New member so be patient.
Willing to spend either up to £45,000 on a used porsche or was even tempted to go for new Carrera but after visiting opc and descussing part exchange they have completely fobbed me off with a ridiculous offer on my existing car, i have lost quite a bit on cars over the years which you live with but they have probably turned me against my dream car. have others had this treatment

You have to expect low offers from OPCs, as they generally have a £5-£10k margin. Try independents or selling it privately.

On another note, for £45k look at 993 turbos or mk1 996 GT3s...

I have ordered a 987 from an Official Porsche Dealer and so far I have found the whole experience very unsatisfactory.

In fact, if it was not for the fact that my heart is ruling my head and that I have already paid the 10% non refundable deposit, I would tell them to go stuff it.

Go for the Porsche but do everything to avoid the OPCs.

Sorry to say, but buying my Beemer was a joy.

Gotta agree except then I went to Porsche Colchester who were very reasonable, Hatfield were so poor that I laughed at him and walked out and a mate who bought a Boxster had similair experience.

45K just won't buy a new Carrera.

I used to insist on buying new - even with my own money. But it's a mug's game. There are some great 'pre-owned' ones and someone else has taken a lot of the depreciation hit. And you can get good warranties - if you pay a bit.

seeing the feed back in such a short time i dont think the opc are coming out with much
credibility,
had BMW and Jaguars, attention and service from both has been impeccable.

I just need to know who are the good independents down in the South West, i have heard Stirlings are one of the best, have any had dealings or should i travel further,

If you don't want to lose money on depreciation, then buy used, and ideally privately as as soon as you buy from a dealer you lose the retail-trade spread. On the other hand, you do get the warranties and peace of mind etc. I've always bought from dealers, but I bought my 993 privately and haven't looked back.

The fact is the trade will always make you a pants offer for your car, but I guess that is how they make a living!

£45k will get a really nice late Carrera from a specialist.

Its all very well giving a pants offer on trade in but before when visiting the opc i heard them giving exactly the same sales pitch. ok we understand they have to make a profit but they could have given some advice or shown some
enthusiasm
that we were prepared to spend around the 50k mark

I have to agree with the overall opinions expressed about OPCs on this thread. Of the OPCs I've encountered - Hatfield, Leeds and Swindon - only Swindon left me with any sense of satisfaction. Hatfield and Leeds were worse than abysmal. I don't believe Hatfield has any concept of what customer service or satisfaction actually means.

Most of the sales people either couldn't be bothered or just treated you like a total mug ready to be ripped off at the first opportunity. To be fair, the service people at the Leeds OPC were the exact opposite to their sales colleagues.

On the other hand, BMW have been excellent to me since 1996. Completely different attitude and experience. If only the OPCs were even on the same planet.

So far my opinion of an opc is awful. Having visited my local one on a number of occassions - I have yet to manage to get someone to talk to the other half and I !!.

FFS - we are in an RS6! You would think that this might trigger the thoughts that we do actually know what we are talking about and do buy cars. We are not 19 year old tyre kickers !!

As an car sales exec, it annoys the hell out of me

until I win the lottery I will never nuy new. Just bought the missus a 325i sport touring for trade proce from a BMW dealer, even if I had paid the glasses retail price of £22995, for a 53 with 16k on the clock that is much better value than the £34k new!

I must the BM dealer in Stockton was superb, very refreshing after various dealings with Hatfield OPC.

OPC Colchester are OK and the bodyshop guys at Cambridge are good (Same Group).

But independant and private with a good PPI is the way to go to buy a second hand Porker.
