OPC or Indy warranty?

In addition to my ongoing Cayman S or 997 debate, still having the same debate about a warranty. Just so I've got this straight in my own head (for a 997 C2S):

OPC warranty for 1 year is £1269
Most reputable indy's are about £100 per month (inc VAT)

But, from my research, the Indy warranties only cover labour costs and not the parts cost. If I go down the Indy route and the worst happens, I'm likely to be stung for quite a high parts bill, whereas the OPC warranty means I wouldn't be.

Fully appreciate the pros and cons of each, namely the higher service costs with OPC against the fact that most Indy warranties include the servicing. Unless I'm missing something very obvious, the OPC warranty is the one to go for?

:?

Surely what you're comparing here is an OPC warranty vs an Indy service plan.

For the comparison to be valid, cost-wise, you'd have to add the cost of routine servicing to the OPC warranty cost.

The OPC warranty gives you nothing until something on the car breaks.

Clearly my original post was one of 'if's and buts' and none of us have a crystal ball! I'm trying to gauge the most appropriate option based on piece of mind and to a degree, cost. Most of the Indy warranties only cover you for labour costs whereas the OPC one is parts and labour. Based on the service schedule, every 2 years my vehicle would need to go to the OPC for service work at a cost of anything between £480 to £1,000+.

Based on an OPC warranty being £1,269, renewal £1,189 and for arguments sake a major service at a cost of £1k, that's just under £3.5k in 2 years. Indy warranty would be roughly £2.4k and servicing thrown in over the same period. But in the event of a major failure, the parts bill with an Indy is likely to be over £1k so the OPC warranty (and cost of servicing) could be a better option.

Fully agree this is only the case in the event of something breaking - if it doesn't, I get nothing as you quite rightly say. Except full piece of mind that it's all covered. So I guess the real question is what price you pay for that piece of mind and what people more experienced than I tend to go for?

There is a saying "I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure".

The more questions you ask, the less a chance of a decision!
My recommendation is that you go and see the Cayman and the 997, test drive each and decide what you want. That was your first question I believe - do I go for a Cayman or a 997?

When you narrow it down, see more of the choice to find a good example.

When you are ready to buy then decide on a warranty - be it an indy or an OPC. You have the nuts and bolts of the financial arguments in your posting above. Add-in that even with 2-year service, most on these foirum would recommend an oil and filter change each year regardless of mileage. Factor in also that for an OPC warranty you ill not be able to have any non-standard items - the waranty is invalidated if non-Porsche washers and tyre dust caps are used (joking!) and it has to have a 111-point inspection prior to renewal if I'm not mistaken - an additional cost.

Good luck in your hunt and I hope you decide on the best choice for yourself soon.
