Would any of the trackmeisters around these parts know if a 993 with RSR's would be within limits on a 100dbA limited trackday?

RSR's depending on age would be between 100db and 103db IIRC

another trackday !!!! which one ?

It all depends on how they measure it. I've done Bedford and Donnington as well as Silverstone and Oulton, got through ok with them all. Bedford is meant to be quite strict but the worse I got was a red sticker but ok on drive by. Trick is to keep the clutch pressed in while sound testing.

I was thinking of giving Castle Coombe a go at the end of September with PCGB but it is advertised as a "quiet" day; might be why there are spaces left!

not combe with RSR's as they measure from both sides as opposed from the centre, so they will be 100+ easily on that basis..

even my Porsche exhaust registers 99/100db with them !

It's great how the do-gooders have even managed to spoil the fun on tracks as well... what next... speed limits??

It's not just here. Apparently people who live near the track in Valencia are lobbying to restrict it's use because the F1 boys test there in winter and they have now decided they don't like the noise. Personally I'd pay good money to be able to hear F1 cars from my garden!

Hey Richard thought you were in depression about track days the other week & had decided not to do any more...or was it just time of the month :)

Can you tell me why this is please Mick ?

I'm not 100% sure how or why, I guess part of the gear box mechanism is disengaged when the clutch is pressed in and therefore reduces some of the mechanical noises.

It worked for me anyway, it's worth a few dB. On the static test in Bedford I get red sticker unless I press the clutch in, but never had any prob with drive by. 911s are disadvantaged on static test 'cos you get the engine and gear box noise as well as the exhaust noise where they put the meter.

As for the Ring, well I really wish I was going but unfortunately as it goes over Mon and Tue that kind of rules it out for me. I guess I'll wait till next yr when I get my RS then I'll make my grand entrance!
