Hi there im new to the forum, just recently acquired a 97 993 c4. Very happy to be back behind the wheel of a 993 ;-)

Ill post some pics when im back on the road. Sadly my pa1000 fobs has stopped communicating with the car. It was in at the garage for new tyres yesterday and they called to say it wouldnt start. I picked it up today and the overnight rest must have reconnected something or maybe the fob mustered one last send ! Sadly its now dead and both fobs despite having new batteries and bright LEDs are doing nothing.

Ill get it recovered and the 25year old system replaced but if anyone has any quick fixes id love to hear ;-)

Sorry first post is a request for help !!
Ive tried DME swap no difference.

Anything else i should check ?
I can open and unlock the car with the key.
Battery is new and fully charged.

Cheers Ben

So i dived in and removed the drivers seat. The CLU seems good. The central locking works from the key, and the console switch. I removed the lid of the cover on the central HP box. No fuse or obvious loose connection. Does anyone know if the red LED should be lit or flash or anything ? This one does nothing.

So in summary the car doesn't respond to either pa1000 fob. The CL works fine as do the interior and frunk light.

I suppose ill just have to garage until january unless anyone wants to tell me which colour wires to snip to bypass it !!

Cheers Ben

Ok so i was not expecting this but while refitting the driver seat i looked up near the pedals and spotted a small fuse board. with a 20a, 5a and 3a - removed them and the 5 amp was snapped. Hey presto !! Seats are back in and we are back on the road.

Hi Ben and welcome to the group. Hope your "new" 993 is running smoothly again.

I was constantly worried my H&P PA1000 was going to fail and leave me stranded so I ripped it all out last winter. Not too difficult as all the wires are relatively easy to track back and it's just a case of reconnecting the cut wires where they have immobilised certain circuits. Others on here have done the same so plenty of advice available if you need it.

I haven't bothered replacing with a modern version and am just using the standard Porsche factory fit alarm which does the door alarm and central locking perfectly using the key in the door lock.

Good luck with the car. A C4 will be handy on the current slippy roads.

Hey thanks for the intro. All good ! Yes ripping it out seems like a good idea. The immobilizer was good in 1997, in 2025 its almost incredible. Even if you have the key fobs, the door keys, the master key, the instructional manual it wants to stay put !
