Hi Guys

Bought a 996 carrera 4 tiptronic today. Has a few little niggles ( maybe big) offside back box has a massive hole in it so need another of those. Also gearbox is in safe mode ( flashing between d/4 and p/4 when parked) The car has covered 10k miles in 5 years and I think the ATF is knackered so going to get the codes read and fluid changed. The Auto box still works fine. other than that all looks fine. I won it on Ebay so was a bit of a punt... your help on these issues would be very much appreciated. cheers. Jim

:Welcome:

I hope you got it for the right price.

These cars can be expensive to fix.

:useless:

:thumb: that what I like 'He who dares Rodney'

I also tend to buy 'using the force' Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

The car has covered 84k it has say nav etc. it was owned by sir John mark hall and he defaulted on it. It has his private plate which I intend to sell back to him. The oil is golden brown it has a new alternator. It has been sitting for a while. It has new discs and pads and other than the gearbox thingy it drives really well. If its expensive I will deal with it but I know that mr wall will pay 1k for his plate which will bring my cost down to 6900. It's a 2000 carrera 4.

Sir John Mark Wall offered the finance company £1000 for the plate. I found this out after I had paid for. Its quite a good plate anyway so not to worried if he is not interested. Where can I buy the back box I need from? your help would be appreciated...

Didn't you realise that for the money you paid you could have got yourself a really nice year old Ford Ka.

:nooo:

I know, and could potentially buy a ford focus for the potential cost of the gearbox

Who the hell is Sir John Mark Hall anyway? He doesn't come up on a google search. I'm a nobody but have two pages of results!!

Could it be this bloke Mr Newcastle?

Arena Red.

"Standard" (well, cost optional metallic) for that year.

ie not Special Order or PTS.
