New build 996 RS recreation Project

I've been back and forth on this, I don't want it to pretend to be something it's not, but then there is only so much variation available with off the shelf parts, so it will be a bitsa, inside should look pretty close to a factory 996 GT3RS, but outside I'm proposing to leave the turbo side skirts and front bumper on it because I like them and probably a GT2 spoiler because I like that.

MLR did another one that I liked the look of, so it should look something like this, but obviously in blue.

Are you looking for an oem spoiler? I have a genuine carrera spoiler option code XAG Iā€™m looking to part with šŸ‘

Harry, everytime I see a new post from you I notice the time and think to myself " does he ever sleep..?" ... then it occurs to me that you're on the other side of the world... Or you're just so damn excited about this 996 that you don't actually sleep šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ can't wait to see the " finished" 996.
I have to say I'm surprised that you've just settled for a wheel though after all the thought that's gone into everything else.

I think we've got one sorted thanks but drop me a message and I'll talk to the lads.

It's not really like I "settled" for them, we had a conversation and they seem the best things for the job at the moment, or perhaps even permanently, they're very good wheels, not terribly expensive and always easy to sell on, so it's a good option to get the car up and away, then I can always get something if I decide to splash out. To get something significantly better than the GT3 wheels you'd have to spend at least 3x the amount and I can't make up my mind on anything else.

The good thing about keeping things fairly factory standard is that there are loads of easy ways to change stuff and just bolt it on, wheels are probably the easiest thing to change at any point in the future.

GT3 wheels are gorgeous , they just look right. Any decisions on colour yet?

The colour of the wheels? Not decided. Probably black or a dark grey, maybe gold, but with the blue PTS I wonder if it's maybe a bit too much Subaru Impreza. Although in fairness I still have a massive soft spot for a nice blue Impreza with gold wheels, I had one back in the day.

Or did you mean the car? The car will most definitely be repainted in the factory PTS blue, that was the whole reason for buying that particular car in the one-of-one PTS blue, it's pretty close to Minerva blue, which is my favourite Porsche colour of all time.

I think the GT3 wheels will look best in silver, for gold wheels you would need BBS LM/E88

Rotiform do some nice wheel options and have a cool looking deep-dish Fuchs style wheel Rotiform FUC Custom

Blue on gold will look quite Impreza, but gold wheels do look good....what about a bronze/copper finish to the GT3 wheels? (different wheels and car, but you get the idea :))

Those Rotiform wheels in matt black do look nice.

Polished rims can be nice and it's a classic Porsche look, the Fuchs look awesome on my 930, but I'm not sure on this car, I'd like it to look more businesslike than flashy, plus if there is too much going on then it can look too busy, it's going to be modified up top with an aero kit and plenty going on with a visible cage, etc, so having flashy wheels would be like having flashy shoes and a bright tie - i.e. too many points of focus.

To be honest I liked the anthracite turbo twists that it came with, but GT3 wheels will look better.

Finding the right fitment in some of the wheels can be a challenge, there were some BBS magnesium wheels that I liked but they wouldn't fit.

Nice satin grey/platinum magnesium wheels with carbon brakes would look the business, but I'd be looking at over twenty grands worth though and I'm not sure they'd actually bring more to the table than a five grand GT3 brake kit and two grand GT3 wheels.

Teardown has begun, Iā€™ve got some video that Iā€™ll upload to YouTube or TikTok, Iā€™ve only just started using TikTok so I might stick with YouTube.

Iā€™m sitting at about 38,000ft at the moment traveling so Iā€™ll have to wait until Iā€™ve got a faster internet connection, but watch this spaceā€¦.

The blue colour in the right light looks gorgeous. Iā€™m going to try and get this car in some magazine features to showcase what these boys can do.

And look at that 993 Speedster behind.
Built by Marc, itā€™s one of a collection of properly authorised 993 Speedsters built by them.

Fantastic motors, all of them.

Been lucky enough to have seen the orange speedster in the flesh and it's stunning...what's the arctic silver 996 behind yours..... C4S I'm guessing at the price..?

I don't know actually, as far as I know they don't usually sell cars, I'll ask, I'll be down there Friday morning.
If it's a C4S for sale from them at that price then it's going to be good.
