the same or different..?

have they avoid the problem that faced the 996 when it was first launched.. when it did look rather much like the existing boxster....

Hmm. Both look good. Evolutionary, in classic Porsche fashion. Boxster has a touch of the Carrera GT about it.

I think they are still too similiar - but when the Boxster coupe comes out, that will be the telling thing...

It must be hard to design a front end which is evolutionary for the Boxter when its the same as the 911 in constuction.

But for goodness sake Porsche - you nearly made them identical again! The very complaint that 911 owners had with the 996!

The shape and size of the Boxter air scopps did not have to look like a 911! The headlights did not have to be nearly oval like the 997!

Any automotive design graduate could have come up with a fresh and distinctive look for the Boxter.

What a shame that the oportunity was missed.

I'm in the against camp.

Not a fan of the "house design" look anyway so obvious now with BMW, Mercedes and Audi (And Porsche) but having booked for the launch of the 997 assuming that it had been developed to differentiate between the 911 and other Porsche vehicles, imagine my disappointment to see the picutes of the new Boxster! There is also a coupe that looks like a 911! :?

I'm sure all their new cars will be great and ones choice/favourite is probably dictated by spending power anyway (and kids!) but it makes me think that a rare 993 model will cost less and be more distinctive (or buy a Ford and really save!)

Maybe I'll be more moved when I see the 997 in the flesh.

in view of how new & fresh the designs from Ferrari F430, Gord GT40, Audi Le Mans, Noble, etc

I think the 911 is in danger of being a victim of it's own classic design.. :?

Interesting. If one assumes that the 997 develops its styling in the same way as the 996 and the 993 then the turbo version (and possibly a 4S type) will have a deeper front faring and a subtle change to the rear etc. Differentiating this from the frontal picture of the Boxter above will be a challenge!
