Hi all
thought it was time I should say hello and thank you to all on this forum for the helpful advice I have read over the last month or so.
I have had many different cars but never a Porsche until a few weeks ago when I purchased a 1996 993 C2 in midnight blue metallic .... what a great car.
Only thing that bugged me was no remote locking so have just fitted one of Tores kits (great service from him, also got his light kit but not tried them properly yet).

I sure there will be questions but for now I am just enjoying the drive :D

Cheers, John

Ok finally worked it out... will take some proper pics asap!

Welcome John

I had never driven a Porsche until a couple of years ago but have had eight pleasurable months with my mistress (993 targa) and she is a constant delight.

Keep her shiny side up!

Thanks for the welcome messages...pics added as requested :D

Nice combination = coupe and roadster 8)

Unusual to see Targa wheels on a coupe. I think they were a factory option but may have been fitted by a previous owner ?

Hi,

yes agree I did not see any other coupes with the targa wheels. I have a lot of history and receipts with the car but no mention of the wheels so presume they were purchased in its very early days or came as an option.

Do you know is it still possible to find out what options the car was ordered with from new? I can see the obvious options like cruise control, leather dash and door tops plus uprated sound system although a Becker Grand Prix was installed to replace the original in 2009.... there is still a Nokia box in the door pocket but it seems to have been bypassed now!

Cheers, John

There should be an option sticker under the front hood and one in the first few pages of the service book ,get those and we can tell you what factory options your car has

Welcome :thumb: I was reading an interesting thread on PH the other day asking what they should buy - air 911 or Chim. Surprisingly one chap said his TVR had literally cost him nothing to keep on the road yet a impact bumper 911 had cost him thousands.

Thanks Clinchy, just checked, looks like it started life with 17" Cup 2 wheels and Pirelli tyres..... there is a receipt missing from the history file somewhere!

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

I agree about the TVR, very low running costs (excluding fuel!). Insurance is cheap (£200) on limited mileage, servicing is relatively straight forward, nothing very complicated on them and plenty of good specialists to keep you mobile if needed.

Cheers,

Hello and welcome.

You can never really tell with wheels. They seem to get swapped pretty regularly from what I can tell. I bet you end up getting a set of Cup 2's for her at some stage though.
