Naughty passenger window

Noticed on the weekend (and happened again today).

My passenger side window seems to have developed a mind of its own. What happens is...

1. Lower the window all the way down
2. Push the button to raise the window
3. Let go of the button when the window has raised to where I want it
4. Window just starts to automatically go down by itself - doesn't stay where it was when I let go of the button

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Doesn't happen all the time. (... Yet...!?). Would be nice to know if this is something I can fix myself or whether OPC visit is required?

Almost certainly the anti-trap sensor detecting too much force/resistance.

Either the sensor is FUBAR or the window (runners/regulator/rubbers) are presenting too much resistance (so need aligning or cleaning or lubricating)

Relative to driver's side, is it slower? (ie drop and raise both together by holding buttons down)

No idea... emmm.... it might be running a bit slower come to think of it.... Cheers, will check tomorrow :thumb:

What should I use to lubricate, WD40...?

Erm, not really. WD-40 is more of an water dispersant and anti-seize or cleaning solvent than a long term lubricant.

Ideally you would use a graphite or PTFE lubricant.

But I fear you are asking this not knowing you will need to strip the door cards and membrane to properly inspect, clean, free-up, align or repair and lubricate.

You can't just spray some oil down there and hope for the best, for one thing, it will make your window smeary for eternity!

Eternity doesn't suck per se, but smeary windows for eternity does.

My drivers side does exactly the same. Very annoying!

This happened to mine and the OPC changed the sensor on mine and it's been perfect ever since.

I'll be getting in touch with the OPC about that tomorrow, and also to fix the bloody annoying creaking noise that I STILL have coming from the front - it was rather annoying at goodwood yesterday!
