Anyone using the Target LRC100 laser jammer. Considering one and wanted to get some views.

What are they like to fit - I assume the box has to have a clear view of the outside world

Johnny, do a search on old threads re LRC100 - there's a lot of debate going on at the moment on the legality of jammers/difusers etc. The last thing you'd want to risk is a criminal record for the sake of motoring points. In france now your car can be impounded if you are found to have one. Even detectors are under scrutiny by all accounts

I was seriously considering getting one but for me the risk of getting on the wrong side of the law just couldn't justify the benefit. Besides, it won't help you with all the other forms of scamera devices. Furthermore, once fixed it's quite difficult to remove quickly, and it could mean trouble over the continent if your car's being searched. If you think it's worth the hassel then I've read/heard a lot of very good reprots on this particular one, it's the one to get if you were to get one.

Yes when we all went down to LeMans this year the GPS camera detectors stayed at home. At the very least the French will take it away from you.

I was thinking of getting the jammer but its a risk I am not going to take. Apparently you have a switch to turn it off and you are meant to say its was not on and its to open your garage door but I'm still not convinced about that working and the grey areas of law.

In the continent, I heard it'll get you in trouble just having it in the car, switched on or not, and that's what stopped me from getting one 'cos I don't really want to un-install it everytime we go over there.

Lots of "I hear this", "somebody told me" etc type of advice.

I agree it could get you in trouble in mainland Europe. However, in the UK there have been only a handful of prosecutions, and all of these where in cases where the driver was repeatedly driving past the Police and sticking two fingers up at them. Incidentally, the prosecutions have been for preventing a Policeman from carrying out his duty rather than for owning or operating the device.

The best information I found was on the Ukspeedtraps website.

Sorry to have given the wrong impression to anybody. I'm really not in a possition to give any advice as such, as I have no experience in any anti-scamera devices although I keep an eye out, always considering getting this and that. Merely disclosing whatever little info I gathered myself over the recent time. I agree with the Ukspeedtraps site, very useful, and you'll get accurate advice/info from them. Everytime I started toying with an idea of getting any devices I often go there to check what's what.
