Hi all

I work on Fifth Gear - on discovery channel.

We have just started producing series 23 of the show and we are looking at doing some fun and exciting items this series.

We're going to be filming a feature on older convertibles and want to recommend the 911 convertible (996) as an alternative and cheaper buy.
We would love to source a suitable model for the days filming.

Filming will be next Thursday 14th March near Castle Combe Wiltshire.
Accommodation and expenses all paid. Please drop me an e-mail if anybody would like to be involved.

[email protected]

Thank you so much
Simon

ooo that sounds good for a cab owner! I have a C4S coupe so no good to you  ... and your filming about 5 miles away from me doh! good luck :)

Guys this is a real request as I noticed a simlar one on the Z4 forum a while back one of the local chaps posted on there about his experience

Gutted.

I've got a 996 convertible and I live not far from Castle Combe but I can't do next Thursday. :(

Mark 1 - Pre 2002

or Mark 2 - Post 2002?

Either way, Calling "PeterS"!

Thanks for getting back all. I think the Mark 1 as we are saying you can pick up a great example for about £10k give or take a couple of quid.

We're not running the cars hard at all and its on a closed loop - were filming a buying guide for episode 1 of series 23 going out in summer.

Thanks all!

Do you think you could manage to do a feature without digging up the old tired cliche about 'purists' being 'aghast at the shift to water cooled engines,"
blah blah blah..

Might be able to help if you can forward some extra details on the day, do you want the child seats left in :?:

Pretty sure I have seen at least one of those buyers guides filmed at the Vauxhall testing track, including wheels off the ground, 4 up, over a hump!

And cue VBH in sideways, tyre smoking, gurning, screeching action!

Wouldn't touch it/bargepole interface etc

Hi Ghost, I can imagine you seen some kind of road test being filmed.
I can assure everyone that this sequence if what we call our cheap alternatives to full priced full spec brand new convertibles.
We're not going to be 'testing' like with new cars on the show but instead driving and evaluating the vehicle as to why its such a good buy 10 years on.
Certainly no tyre screeching or smoke...don't worry.

The guy off the Z4 forum said it was a good day no messing around , they even spent a day cleaning the Boxster S they had for the current feature and may even of taxed it i think he said??

See link of show...

Having watched the piece Plato did on a Boxster S, Z4 3.0 and RX8 I can agree that even if there were any hooning it didn't make it into the final cut - sounds like a good opportunity to get your drop top on the TV :thumb:

C4 Tip in Royal Wootton Bassett any use to you?
