Wanted Looking for a 80's super sport targa

For classified adverts, seeking cars, parts and products.
FZP if you've got 6 figures. :ROFLMAO:

What a car. T

@Outrigger Colour ? condition ?

any one's you have seen ?

There was a nice gold one a while back that was a muso's car. I want to say Eric Clapton, at least that level anyway. Sold before the auction I believe and it was a minter, low mileage job.
Let us know what you find. There were only 220 Targas for the UK market for the M491. Try the M491 Facebook group with a wanted post as well.

Rindt have got a nice early Targa that has been "forward dated" and turned into a Supersport with a 3.2 engine.
It looks really nice and if I didn't already have an air-cooled car then I'd go and have a look, it's a bitsa, basically a 1972 car that has been updated, but if done well (and you're not a stickler for originality) then you get the best of both worlds with an original early 70's car but more modern engine/electrics.

Wasn't it Ridley Scott's?

It could have been Ridley Scotts? At Porsches in the Glen car show I was talking to a lady who said she had Ridley's old targa in her fathers garage near Glasgow and was thinking of selling it.. She stayed in London and worked in the film industry and it all made sense at the time!

A really good M491 specced car will surely be £100K?

The rarity and the fact that it's a 930 clone means they're always in demand.
I considered one but there are two challenges, finding a good one and then basically if you can afford one then why not get the 930 because the purchase prices didn't seem that different a couple of years ago - although maintenance costs on the 930 engine might be more, bodywork the same as they're essentially the same body.

Many who've driven both claim the SS is a nicer drive than the turbo.

Ridley Scott sounds right. When I was trying to remember, I kept thinking Bonn Scott, from AC/DC, but it wasn't making sense. I was initially half right😂.
My car is currently insured for just under the 6 figure mark, and that's before it gets the Sofia Vergara freshen up next month.

Does that mean it'll miss Oulton again?

I've heard the same, they're basically the same car so I think it's that the less aggressive 3.2 is more civilised and easy to drive, rather than having to wrestle with the power and turbo lag of the 930.

I suppose it depends what you're looking for, I can drive my car like a 3.2, but I also love the hooligan element when I push the needle towards 3.5k and hit the boost for the huge torque available.
