Limited slip differential question

Is an LSD standard on all 997's ?
Or are they an option only ?
Are they part of any option pack like the sport chrono ?
Apologies if this is a naive question.
Im am a newbie.
Cheers.

I think like the 996 they use ABD which utilises the brakes. Im after getting a quaife though as I heard they work quite well with PSM and I'll still have mechanical torque biasing when I switch off PSM which is what I want as it's way to intrusive at my current power level.

All 997.1s Carreras had ABD as standard equipment and no mechanical LSD, but manual transmission cars with the optional "sports" suspension set-up (Code P17: 20mm lower, stiffer damping, no PASM) automatically had a mechanical limited slip diff.

Also worth bearing in mind that the LSD plates that are fitted by the factory, even the ones in the GT3, are made of chocolate & will be worn out after 25K miles.

LSD

What are the costs to replace a plate pack in a lsd ?
How do none lsd cars handle on the limit compared to lsd models?
Has the GT3 got an lsd as standard ?
So many questions- sorry.

All GT3s and GT2s have an LSD, but IIRC the only place it appears for 997 Carreras is on the options list. Fairly rare as well as it was originally packaged with a lower sports suspension option that deleted the PASM dampers (making it a bit of a purists option that most of the mainstream avoided).

I think that replacing the plates is in the region of £1k at an independent specialist but not positive about that.

About £1K. Fit the motorsport diff pack because it lasts much longer & costs the same as the "road" pack.

The LSD doesn't affect handling so much as the ability to get on the power at the apex of the corner (ie. when the lateral G forces are at their highest) without having the power spin the inside (unloaded) wheel. The result is much better corner exit speeds.

LSD

Surely it's easier to control slids with an LSD ?
What is the standard diff setup like to control once the back end is moving ?

Gen 2 C4S has a locking diff as a standard feature. I'd have to check C4.
