Hi SEE YA, yes I went to Le Mans with the PCGB. The camp site was good and it was great to have decent toilet and shower facilities compared to other sites I have stayed on before at Le Mans. The food on site was also good, especially the "English" breakfasts. Cost wise I thought it reasonable compared to the alternatives. If you are thinkling of going next year - book up soon as they seem to be selling fast and arrive early on site. We got there on Thursday before the race and the site was already filling up. Get there on Friday and you will be pushed to find a decent pitch with room for your car.

The downside for me was the the viewing facilities at the Porsche curves. This was so crowded at most times - you had to stand on tiptoe (and I'm 6'2") that it was really an effort to see anything worthwile. It is a general public viewing area and was also being used by a huge number of Danes from an adjoining camp site. All in all - best avoided. Get a grandstand ticket if you want to be able to see much of what is going on. For me, the best grandstand is Maison Blanche, opposite the Ford Chicane.

Le Mans this year was so much more crowded than any time I have been before (and I have been going since 1988). Next year we will be going to the Classic.

If you haven't been before, it is definitely worth the trip - go and enjoy the atmosphere.

Martin
