I was just browsing ebay as you do and stumbled across this listing...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-9...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f0e40151d

This isn't about the listing, its about the information in the product description, have a read if you're interested in IMS issues. Seems like quite a comprehensive write up.

Its definitely made my mind up on going for a low temp thermostat anyway.

This info may be freely available elsewhere which would be better to post a link to if anyone has it as the listing will end at some point.

I didn't see anything in that listing that I hadn't read before but it is an excellent summary. Good link FB. :thumb:

I wonder if there's a similar simple explanation explaining 'bore scoring'.

NB re the above: The Hartech website gives both - but in a lot of detail.

Very good read. Interesting. That company seems to be good at rebuilding engines and boxes on Porkers. Good to know.

From the horse's mouth (so to speak):

http://www.imsretrofit.com/

Many indies fit these kits (eg AutoFarm, Precision Porsche, in fact any Indy that is competant to fit a clutch for the pre-MY2007 versions)

Do a ring round, some charge less than £1k supplied and fitted!

The parent co. LN Engineering have been saving 911 engines since the 964 and before.

They pioneered the ceramic IMS, low temp thermostat, X51 equivalent dual chamber oil pump, deep sump and are agents for the IMS Guardian.

Of course their main claim to fame was for their superior replacement for Nikasil and Alusil barrels (cylinders).

The price of a rebuilt supplied engine looks good at £3k with 2 year parts and labour warranty. Has anybody had one?
