Jonttt's 993 C4S Journal

Who says a 993 is just for summer

It's a while since I've driven it in the cold and it's easy to forget how sublime an aircooled is the cabin with the sweet smell of oil heated air, just a magical place to be ...... in so many ways the 993 suits winter driving more than summer...

The 993 is away getting some TLC......at its recent service I had new discs and pads fitted and it was noted that whilst the calipers had been refurbished before my ownership they had not been done very well and in any case where suffering from "plate lift" corrosion making the new pads difficult to fit. Whilst the car is getting some bodywork done I therefore too the opportunity to get all calipers removed so I coukd send them off for a full refurb and new seals etc....

Off the car they where in a sorry state

So i was really pleased with the returned items. They come with a lifetime warranty for the paint. Cost was c£900 all including insured postage both ways with turnaround c7 days from postage to receipt back. There was some additional work in that price as x3 of the bleed nipples where ceased.

My plan is to ceramic coat them before they get fitted back on the car ...

I am really pleased with them especially given the sorry state they were in when removed and you could see the backs. They worked perfectly but needed doing…

For info this is the place that did them

I’m more than happy to recommend them based on my personal experience, email comms was great and fast, they provided a quote by email pending any issues on teardown…….there is a choice of logo options including painted on / lacquer over but that was pretty expensive per caliper. The won’t lacquer over stickers as they have issues with bubbling later and can’t stand by their lifetime warranty so I just went for the basic stick on but will be ceramic coating over them to add some protection.

Degreased and ceramic coated.....cant wait to get them back on the car

Ace. I love the red/yellow calipers on sports cars.

The 993 Big Reds are the daddy 💪

I've got that ceramic coating stuff from the same firm, I bought it because I heard it would refresh the black plastic on my 997 and protect it, but it doesn't seem to have done anything.
I was going to do my lights with it but I read that if you get it wrong then only sandpaper will get it off.
