Hi all I had the 996tt now for 4 months now 95% of my driving is around town I get up to temp about a third of the way into my journey and I get 13mpg even on a bit more of a run I only got around 15. I wouldn't say I boot it that much just a bit of fun every now and then after all that's what its there for, I had the car plugged in and nothing really showed up. I've had a look around at other posts and it seems a bit low? What do others think? I do need to have a service but that never really makes any difference.
13 is my luck number but I would rather get a bit more to the gallon if I could my mate has an R8 v10 which has the 5.2 Lambo engine and he drives very similar to me and gets 17mpg which I think is more like it.

Thanks in advance

Not long had mine and it's still getting a bit of a spirited drive but I filled it tonight and in just over a thousand miles in a month it's doing 24 average. My car I sane ally 3.4 non turbo.

Town driving in a 3.6 twin turbo, that sounds about right.

PS. Not good for the health of the car, btw.

And the "a bit more of a run" 15mpg? Is this "about right", too? :o

It is if he doesn't re-set the trip computer. Remember the trip computer tells you the average over the whole period. So a 15mpg reading will reflect the 95% town driving and 5% 'bit more of a run' driving. Had it been the other way around, I would say that the OP will be getting late teens to early 20's.

What do you think?

My view is that sounds a bit low. I have a very short journey to work and back, pretty slow and it it does about 17.5. But on a long run on the motorway, up there with the faster traffic, it climbs massively to about 28. Mines a tip. I drive like a granny most of the time.

When I brought mine back from cornwall it did I think 34mpg. :o
In normal use including town work its around 20mpg..Spirited driving will see early to mid teens.

Make sure you've set the PCM "Trip" function to measure in UK Gallons and not US Gallons ...

Personally I think you should definitely be doing better than that.

I don't use mine round town but don't spend much time on motorways either. I work out my mpg accurately after every top up.

When I first got the car it was 5 tankfulls before I got more than 19 mpg but now, after nearly 4,000 miles, I always get between 20 and 22.5.

For odd journeys with plenty of  's I see 14 on the computer but the only time I've seen 13 was after a half wet/half dry day at Brands Hatch.

ps. Why did you buy a 996T if 95% of your use in round town. :?

That's very low. Mine in that sort of driving does around 19-21. On motorways at steady 2.2 rpm (around 65mph indicated) it does around 33-34mpg. Otherwise with the odd burst up to 90 and cruising at 70 on motorways, 30-32mpg.

Use the Board Computer (BC) button to measure a specific journey - use the "since x time" option. The mpg on the stalk in the instrument cluster is the average since it was last reset and reflects the total miles driven average - not that individual journey.

13 does seem low but around town has always delivered the worst MPG in my cars. Most of my 996T journeys were long distances on the open road; I got an average of 20 in the time that I had it.

22-24 seems the norm for me just pootling around but exercising restraint. 18 when using a bit more of the performance, 14 when getting a move on although I saw 7 when on a hot lap of the 'ring! I remember filling up after 4 laps and the range computer showed 70 miles range! :D

I lived in London until recently and commuted everyday 7 miles in to work and back and would get about 12mpg most mornings in the traffic so sounds perfectly normal to me.

I saw an average of 8 MPG driving through traffic in Reading in my old RS6.
