Hi,

Im looking at a 997 but the one I have been offered only has the standard stereo. I had an early Boxster before with standard stereo and it was pretty poor sound hense I wanted Bose now. I have heard the 997 now has a decent stereo and Bose not needed.

Anybody anything to say on this?

Cheers

It's not expensive as an option but still not worth it! If I got it for free I would take it but I wouldn't pay for it personally - best to try it out. Takes a bit of room in the passenger footwell as well.

A friend of mine has just bought a audi A4 with a Bose sound system fiited, sounds brilliant. I'd go for it given the choice.

Definitely worth it. I had the system in my Boxster, far superior to anything else. Go for it.

too late, i bought one without Bose. im sure the experience of a 911 will more than compensate for no bose.

That was quick! I don't think it will bother you too much not having it. Enjoy!

tbh,

i have it in my C4S, and it is fab, esp for long journeys,

however the 997 has a very good system to start with, where as the 996 didnt.

dont know if subs are std on a 997 though without bose.

thats what gives it the kick.

I wanted blue with sand interior and lazy mans gear box, and found it so snapped it up! Im certainly enjoying it so far :)

Had Boxster before but some reason changed it for Bemer oil burner, so glad decided to get the 911 now.

You can definitely tell. I have 2 997's, one with and one without. As people have said - night and day

Umm... there is a third option.. fit an aftermarket amp, speakers and soundproofing. Even the factory option stereos fitted to cars are built to a cost. There are other companies which make very good amps and speakers.

I love my BOSE!

I pick my 2012 Cayman up on Saturday, it has "Sound package plus."
Is this something between standard set up and Bose set up?

Bose in my 987 gen 2 was what I considered mediocre but the Bose with digital radio in my 981 is much better and worth the extra cost. Not sure if it sounds better because it's a boxster cabin in lieu of Cayman but I doubt that's the reason but whatever the case it's much better.

Edit. if all else is good with the car then that would definitely not be a deal breaker for me. Easy to upgrade a sound system.
