Infinity Speakers

Hi All

I decided to upgrade the speakers in my 911 at the weekend. I didn't shop around, I just went into the nearest car audi place (CEL) and asked them to fit something that would not require any cutting etc of the trim. The suggested Infinity speakers (6000cs 6.5inch with tweeters. I asked them to use the original speaker housing if possible, but although this was fine for the tweeters, I had to go with the Infinity grill for the woofers, but they are bland, so I was happy with that.

Anyway, the result is AMAZING!!!!, sound is great.

Total cost was £129.99 for the speakers + £82 to have them fitted.

However, my joy way spoilt when I surfed the net to find the same speakers for sale for £75 from CEL-Driect on the web.

The moral of the story is , don't rush into such a venture like me and get ripped off. Buy them on the web, and then get them fitted. CEL were very good by the way - very professional, and I am happy with the end result.

Cheers.

Ami

Does anyone else have experience of after market speaker upgrades for the 993?

I've had a quick search on the internet and am quite interested in either the Focal 165kf or Rainbow CS265.25 from raysmith. Has anyone had the chance to listen to these speakers? Any recomendations would be welcome.

Cheers

To be honest in my 3.2 I can't see the point in spending any money on decent hi-fi, the flat six is so loud, I am NOT complaining, what a noise, that any sound quality will simply be lost.

I fitted some 6.5" MBQuart RCE216's components (installed as co-ax) recently in my 3.2. Sounds quality is superb, but do need a decent amp to power them. Very much OEM look, which is nice.

The two you mention are both high quality items, I doubt they'd disappoint.

I tend to agree with Supersport on this one. Most of the time I have the window open so I can hear the exhaust. The system that was in my car when I bought it is ok, but annoys as it has pre-sets like "Rock" or "Concert Hall" so is a pain if you want to change the bass and treble levels. Anyway, there is plenty else to spend money on so I won't be changing it anytime soon :D
.

Ami, if you got your speakers from the online version of CEL, can't you point out the discrepancy and see if they will refund the difference? You've given them a good write up here as well so that might be worth pointing out.
