Anyone got one of these fitted ?

EuroCupGT Twin Intake Kit 996 Carbon Fibre Y Pipe

Do they make much difference to
1. Sound
2. Performance
when fitted with a Porsche switchable exhaust ?

:?:

I have one fitted, nice piece of kit and the sound is very addictive. Makes no difference on performance though but if you really want to free up the flow of the engine these mods made a huge difference in responsiveness to my car:

Euro Cup GT carbon Y pipe
GT3 82mm throttle body and plenum
Full high flow exhaust

I had the PSE but the manifolds (unless you have X51) are dreadful, as in restrictive, so I changed the whole system to include: high flow headers, 200cell cats and Dansk super sport silencers and the sound the car now makes is truly awesome without being over the top and zero drone. Responsiveness is massively improved. Then I took it to DMS for a remap and achieved 351bhp with a lovely power/torque curve. Thats about as good as you will get with a n/a 3.6

Hi KGboxers, could you please tell me what exhaust manifolds you fitted as I have read reports that some of them can actually produce negative effects (loss of mid-range power et cetera: I think it was OZ996 on here that tried some and swapped back to the OEM due to dyno results)? Also was the DMS an off the shelf chip/remap or did they monitor lambda/ign timing et cetera and do an individual remap for your car?
GT3 82mm throttle body and plenum also sound quite interesting. It is a plug and play swap or is much faffing about involved?
Do you know if there is any performance benefit in the Dansk silencers over the PSE?

What difference does a diode snip make?

KGboxers

Many thanks - did this opush your Insurance up by much ? I have gone with Bridle and the Induction kit has not affected the £..

No worries, I used the X51 headers, the stock ones are simply dreadful and so restrictive I was amazed. That said doing the change over is a bit of a pain in the ar$e as the nuts to the engine block are notorious for seizing - I found a breaker bar worked best and managed to get them all out complete - but have heard stories of sheared bolts etc.

The DMS remap was bespoke to my car and set up on the rolling road taking into account the upgrades I had mad - output was very healthy and in their view it has a better power delivery up to 6500rpm than a GT3 (obviously the GT3 will go beyond 6500 rpm) but very pleased and they really know their Porsche's.

The GT3 throttle body/plenum is plug and play but not with the standard airbox, as I had the Y pipe that fitted straight on. It is a little fiddly to get in place but I reckon I was easily done in 2hrs.

I don't really know about any performance improvement from the Dansk silencers, but my god when coupled with the rest of the mods and with a few miles under their belt to settle down they sound incredible (only downside is they are not switchable - but doesn't worry me as I always had the PSE switched on)

Hope that helps - thinking about it I should start a thread on the various mods I have done as they are a bit all over the place on the forum

Many thanks for that Kgboxers, a separate thread sounds a good idea especially if you can add pictures of what you have just described.
