Independent Servicing - La Rose

I have once used La Rose in Sevenoaks but never went back again for a number of reasons. The least tangible reason, but the one that put me off most, is that it unnerves me that they charge the same price for all services, regardless of whether it is a 12, 24 or 48k service.

It seems to me that different things need to be done at each service so, if they are charging the same price every time, are they skipping some aspects of the major services?

I really don't know the answer and the lady I spoke to at La Rose to try to get to the bottom of it wasn't particularly helpful.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be?

Cant answer your question but do you mind if I ask what else you were unhappy with? I am planning to have mine serviced there next year as I bought it from Paul Devyea and was very impressed with the level of prep the car was given.

Thanks

Simon

There were a number of small things really. One thing that stops me going back is the point I made about the same pricing for all services. The other was that they kept delaying the pick up date one day at a time so that something which was meant to take 2 days (it was a basic service, nothing special required) ended up taking a week. They also replaced the front pads which, at the time, I was not convinced was necessary but I didn't push the point. Finally I have just discovered today, under a different forum, that they either misled me or were not sufficiently well-informed to know that a set of LHD headlights could be converted to RHD. That cost me an extra £450!

All these things have put me off going back, particularly as I now get good service, a great courtesy car (not usually available from La Rose I believe), a discounted labour rate for >4 year old cars (standard service is £440 + VAT on my 993 Targa), collection and delivery and an OPC stamp in the book from Lindbrook in Tonbridge.

It could be that I have had an unfortunate bad experience - I know that other members of the forum, particularly Hendo, have great things to say about La Rose. It might be worth checking the price differential with Lindbrook for your car but, to be honest, the sheer convenience of Lindbrook, not to mention peace of mind is worth a lot to me. Not sure though that an OPC is necessarily the best option once you get into older cars coz I'm not sure how many they actually see.

Whichever route you take it would be great to hear your feedback!
