Good Morning and Merry christmas (almost)

Have any of you boys Imported your 911 ?

I have seen one I like (LHD !! what am i doing !) Up for around £18,000 but need to know if I bring her back, how much Import tax i will pay ? The car will be coming from the States, and I know I will have to register her in the UK.

She is a 1996 C2 done 84,000 miles, black with beige leather and Techart 19" alloys, 2 owners with Full OPC history.

if this one comes off (we hope !) will the specs be any different to the UK (yes I know the steering wheel will be the wrong side  )

I think it is simpler to import once a car is 10 years old, that is you don't need an sva, just an MOT. That will save a bit of money.

Sorry don't know if the VAT/duty has to be paid, this link:

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/exptimpt.htm

might help.

not sure about a UK car, as there will still be duty to pay and then you need to get type approval as it is an US car, which ain't cheap !

best bet is to import from mainland euorland

www.uk.mobile.de

which is where I got mine from

Dan,

I would agree with Sundeep - I bought mine from
www.uk.mobile.de
, couldn't of been easier. Flew out to Berlin, checked the car over, then dove the car back – plus you can have some fun on the autobahns – where else can you do 180 legally!! Cost me £100 for hire car to airport/flight/euro tunnel + petrol. Registration is easy – cost is £38 + car tax. Just make sure you get the Certificate of Conformance with the car.

Cheers, Chris
