I want to retrofit heated seats to my 996 sports seats

Has anybody done this?

Searching and reading around, as far as I can gather there is no wiring in place.

So I need, heater pads, wiring loom(s), switches, not sure if I need a control unit also.

Not really interested in 3rd party kit, want it to be an OEM fit as much as possible.

It may be beyond my DIY skills, or may have a crack at it. Can anybody tell me if there are any places that have done this mod/upgrade in the past?

If anybody can tell me the part numbers for the kit I require that would be great.

I looked at this when I bought mine as it was the option I really wanted but didn't get.
Much easier to buy a set of seats with the heating elements in it unless you have a really odd colour scheme. Ebay for 996/boxster seats.
Andy at Promax did it to his but he put the switches somewhere else as he had a carbon dash and the batwing was a silly price from porsche.
He's a good guy so give him a call.
I think he reckoned on about 1500 plus the seats to do it for you so not cheap.
What galls me was that it was a £300 on a 100k car - just tick the box FFS!

to the op

Hi there, what colour are your interior seats? I know of some c4s blue seats with heating and only 33k miles, and possibly some other bits to go with them ,p.s there is no control unit ,just the seats and switches ,wires, relay etc.

Christian..................

The seats are an unusual colour, the original option list says made to sample, I think its carrera red, thats certainly the nearest match I've seen. They are also hardbacks colour coded with my polar silver paintwork so I think the chances of finding replacements that are heated are next to none.

I would prefer not to go aftermarket as I want to keep everything OEM if possible.

David, just what I thought, tick the option box when ordering, much easier :)
