HVAC placement double din install

I'm starting to plan a double din install and I was wondering if the HVAC can be moved to the top position in the lower console.

I have a couple of reasons for wanting to move it to the top position, firstly, I have a CD drawer in the top position and an existing cubby in the bottom position, so I don't want to have to buy a cubby if its not needed. Secondly, I think the gearstick interferes with the HVAC controls when they are placed in the bottom position.

Is this possible, using OEM parts??

Thats what I'm looking to do, but I want to mount the HVAC in the top position of the lower centre console. I already have a cubby in the bottom position, so it would be a shame to lose it.

I currently have the slide out CD holders in the top position, so I don't mind losing those.

That's a great resource, cheers. I don't want to hack anything together, so I guess I'll have to move the HVAC to the lower position.

When I asked this question last year, here is the answer - sorry I cannot remember who from for attribution, but hopefully the prices are still current.

The complete part number for the cubby for position 3 is part number 996.552.253.01.01C at £24.75 +VAT from an OPC.

The A/C surround trim for position 4 is part number 996.552.339.00.01C and they are £3.57 +VAT.

Can't say enough nice things about Design 911 customer service. They shipped C4S brake disks and pads to NZ for me!!!

For reference, the slots are numbered from the top spot on the dash, 1 and 2. Then 3 and 4 in the lower console.
