How wide is your pipe?

I am finally (8 months after a false start) getting around to having my muffler bypass done. I had another chat with the exhaust co. & they suggested 2" pipe. I had been set on 1 ¾" as I thought it had been said that 2" was really that bit too loud. I have reread the various posts, including my own, and now more unsure.
What size did people go for and are you happy with it?

I have 1 ¾" and it's quite loud enough  (but I am running 200 cell cats too)

Here we go : LINKY

I've got a 1.5" fitted. It's really a matter of taste but I'm happy with the result. Loud but not too lary

I have 1.5" with 200 cells.

1.75" would be the largest I'd go for in isolation.

2" I think is too loud (and raw, the quality of the noise alters too as you open up the pipe diameter).

1.75" + 200 cell Powerspeed cats here. Same as AdamW's. just right for what I wanted. As Paul (GT4) said the tone is different, between his and mine, both sound great but try to get a listen if you can.

Hi,
1.5 on mine, but with 100cel cat, and its plenty loud enough for me (and probably my neighbours:oops: ).

Love how it has unleashed the true character of the engine.

Mine were 38mm. Purchase 2 x 60 Degree x 60 x 38mm a 1.5mm stainless exhaust bends of the bay for £6.50ea.

Just right with no drone but superb when opening the tap

Thanks Chaps. 1 3/4" confirmed. I was going to have the 200 cell cats done at the same time but some mischievous scamp (edited for language) has keyed my Golf from headlight to tailgate, so that's another call on my motors budget. On this subject what's the view on 'smart" paint repairs. I think I can guess the responses; I am visiting my body shop tomorrow to get a quote.
