How long have your tyres lasted ?

Mine appear to have lasted 18,800 miles
Is that actually possible ?

Well, as it says on a couple of the other threads, I finally got some new tyres yesterday having done the morning at Bedford.

Thought they were getting a bit low and know they weren't new when I bought the car and have done 8,000 miles since.

The rather shocking thing was that when I asked Steve the tyre guy to look at them, he said one of the rears was delaminating so badly that it could blow on the next corner
Really not good considering I'd spent the morning round the track and got close to 140.....would have been very serious had it gone

I then suggested that perhaps I should drive home gingerly and when he found out that was 200 miles he said I shouldn't even go that far on them........

Kwik Fit wanted £289 per tyre!!!!!! and he only had track tyres there which were not suitable given I only do tracks a few times a year. He then phoned Toyo and had some delivered to the track, all fitted for £705 which I thought was great.

Car drives so much better now and I think there's a little less road noise....

Now, the tyre guy thinks these were the original tyres from the car, helped out by the fact that the locking wheel nut was still sealed in a bag inside the tool kit.

Shame I missed out on the afternoon session but I'll definitely go back to Bedford...

My Last set of rear's lasted around 6000 miles.... the fronts are still fine @11,000 miles..

Think you not driving a 911 the way it was ment to be driven........

But then it is a cab, with you behind the wheel drying your hair..........

LOL - have have got 11K out of my latest set - but that included 4000 miles touring round Europe. Need to be changed in the next 2K I reckon.

Scott, it wasnt the track day that caused it but thanks to the TD for spotting the problem....

I was getting 8-10k from my rears.......... but PSM cars can suffer from extra tyre wear or so I hear.......

actually 19k is amazing from a 911...

great job by Steve from Simply Tyres for getting a complete set of regular 911 tyres....

His services are very recommended for all your Toyo needs..

so all in all Scott Scott an eventful day !!

What tyres did you get in the end Scott? £705 seems pretty good.

The last set I had on lasted 3600 miles. I out it down to the car being new (to me) so I was testing the grip etc.

Toyo R1's, as recommended by Steve, he said they would be cheaper than replacing like for like (Michelin)

Yep - that would have been very cheap for Michelins!

What are the Toyo's like?

So far, and only driven back from Mick's (due to being in bed all day yesterday and not left the house yet today) they seem fine, much smoother than the Michelin's which were clearly not going to be good, slightly less road noise....will let you know once I've driven with them properly......
