My 993 is covered in the fine scratches caused by 8 yrs of cleaning etc. I have tried Lehm-klay, Zymol HD Cleanse, and a few coats of Concours glaze.

Whilst it is much, much improved I am still not quite satisfied; I feel that a more abrasive polish is required to get the scratches out...

Can anyone recommend anything (apart from 'get a life...')?

Thanks

Robert.

Robert

Mine had similar apparently caused by the previous owners penchant for automatic carwashes. I went to my local porsche approved body shop, who on asking whether I had a few minutes to spare, whizzed it into the shop, picked a noticeable panel, and used the rotary polisher on it, without using abrasive kit. The difference was amazing and I'm having the whole car done at a cost of about £250.00, which is about the same as the detail fella by all accounts. I'm having that done first to see if there's anything further needed before joing the slippery Zymol slope. Also they didnt charge me anything even though the chap was at it for a good twenty minutes. The manager said 'we'll be delighted to help you getting your car looking its best, so bring it in when you're ready'

Yep, get it machine polished, it's the only way.

Other than OPC, who can do machine polish? Would you trust just any bodyshop to do it? I assume it's just a matter of using DA with fluffy pad and polish like T-cut or something. Isn't than going to remove the clear coat in no time?

Hey Mick, how's your car after its therapy session at JZ? Remind us what you had done... Can you feel the difference?

Last thing you want on your car is T Cut.

Orbital do dah with a mop and use a very fine compound paste. Better still let a good bodyshop do it because if you are over zealous you can remove the clearcoat finish and go down to paint.

Remove to much clear from the paint and you will get clear coat failure!

Ask the place your getting it done, if they have a paint depth gauge. Mopping, machine polishing and compounding is like doing it in the dark with out a paint gauge.
