hi all,

i found a 911 Carrera 4 today 1994 L Reg 51000 miles LHD, its in mint condition from a small dealer in london(nervous i know). My major concern is the dealer has informed me that the service history is missing from 35000 miles because the car is CAT D. which im told means its been stolen and recovered. from what i can see it looks perfect and runs well. i will get the RAC to do the full check if i go ahead. but whats the story with CAT D? how much should i be payng for this car? help guys, help

Is it 87000 killometers? Dont rush into it, the clever people on this site (not me) tend to point buyers in the direction of good solid cars so dont worry if you miss out on that one! it seems to have a potted history like Reginald Perrin anyway!

Yeah, unless youre very keen on that particular ''anniversary'' model, give that one a miss. Is it the dark violet one in topmarques for £22.5K? If it is that price I would go for a lhd 993.

The 911 Celebration was introduced in March 93 to celebrate 30 years production of the 911. A 964 Carrera 4 with Turbo body, std running gear, special paint, full leather and "30 Jahre 911" badges. the 92 L tank was standard. Special 911 badge on te engine cover, 911 made.

Do you have the VIN? The 993 was introduced in Dec 93, so this car cannot be a 94. Seems the seller doesn't really know what he has so this could be an opportunity.

Why is the history missing from 31K, surely it should be before that mileage that is missing?

Sounds like a money pit to me,

Late 964 with a missing history = £bills

If its cheap, there's a reason for it. If a dealer could get more for a car he'd have it up for more

I'd get a specialist to do an inspection (not AA or RAC) before parting with any cash

I suspect its a pup, steer clear unless you've got deep pockets

The VIN is WPOZZZ96ZRS400075 which is correct for a 964 1994 model Carrera 4. As Pbrane says the history is complete up to 37K km, but in a duplicate service book, so 1 service record is missiing to 87K km, but the seller says it appears to have had a recent service. Itst

The car is cheap because it lacks history. If you are going to keep the car a long time or can do the maintenance yourself it's a good deal. But be prepared for big bills and low resale unless you can track down more history via the previous owner, which you can get from the DVLA.

im off to see it thursday morning, i have reservations but i have about 2000 extra to spend on it getting it into shape.

i just really would like to get hold of the history

RAC want to £278 to look at it, but it think if its what i hope it will be i will get themt o check it over.

what should i do ???? help i plan to keep it for about 5 years

I don't think that RAC have the experience with a specialist car like this, try

You can get copies of the previous V5s from DVLC when you are the registered keeper. that should get you the history hopefully
