As part of an ongoing planned refresh of my c2 993 cab I am thinking of getting new headlights in - not for any other reason than the modern visual aspect - i already had the all singing and dancing bulbs in and they work fab but I am wanting the guntherwerks style light with a halo.

Has anyone bought the morimoto or flat 6 illumination versions? Its difficult to tell quality from a website but the morimoto look to have the edge.........................

would they pass an MOT too????

they will pass an mot, assuming you have headlamp washers

... and headlamp height adjustment.

if the headlamp adjustment switch was blanked off would it then pass? Last MOT it failed on the adjustment, cost me a fortune to get it rectified then ended up moving a fraction of an inch - i asked what was the point............................i got no answer

On my Alpina I just stick the original lights back in for the MOT as I've encountered too much inconsistency from testers. Only a minor faff.

I don't know the 993, but on the 964 it's an easy job.

I've got a set of Flat6 headlights. Here are my thoughts. TLDR => They are very bright and pretty much like any high-end modern car.

I don't have the halo lights as I went for the slightly more traditional look. Having said that, they still don't look very traditional and some people like them and other people don't.

At the time I wanted a more resto-mod look to the car, but since then I've changed tack completely and have gone all out for an RS-replica look now. So I'll be selling the lights sometime soon.

Regarding the other question;
- Build Quality; not brilliant. A lot of 3D printed parts in plastic. So lightweight, etc. However, these parts are really just the filler that houses the main LED light units, which appear good quality. But compared to Morimotos, the Flat6 units appear to be inferior quality-wise.
- MOT; I have passed an MOT with them in, but my car does not have headlight washers and I've blanked out the adjustors.

If money was no object then I would go with the Morimotos, but they are very expensive.

Thanks Andy, thats really helpful - i was contemplating blanking the adjuster off last year but simply couldnt find a blanking plate in time so got OPC Leeds to fix it. £££...........in fact stopped looking for a blanking plate after that
If you had the halo lights I would be interested in a deal but if I am going for it, i want the full halo. I arent going the full RS spec, but will be fitting RS front chins, rear RS spoiler and the side sills - but as its a Tip Cab I wont bother trying to overdo it - leaving my 18" fuchs on and just have it as a modded car

Think I will wait to see what black friday brings with morimoto but then arent even sure they have a RHD version..............

As i said its not for the brightness as the lights in a great and i hardly drive at night anyway - its purely aesthetics.

I’m 100% sure, but I think you can buy the halo kit upgrade for mine. I can ask them if ur interested?

Re: blanking plate for headlight adjusters - From Design911

thank you - will get a blanking plate just so i have one on hand lol

its worth looking in to the possibility of retro fitting the halo then.............................can you post a pic of how they look though first to see if its what I am wanting...............thanks

I’ll ask the question.

Have a look at their website to see if you like them with the illuminated outer surround - Flat6 Picture Gallery

Thanks Andy - i am actually on their website now - which version do you have, there seems to be a few options available

I think mine are "Bi-LED Headlights - All Chrome" with Custom Fluted Lenses.

Thanks Andy - i think I would rather have the black version with halo - but it depends if they are too good to pass up - what are you think of asking for them?

Its hard to tell how they are if not seen in person - to check the side profile etc.
